We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Garner and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jessica, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my own business came from losing my grandmother in 2013. It was an unexpected loss & it effected my entire community. Her name was Virginia Duster Davis! She was a gospel legend & an angel! When she passed I wanted to create something that would forever honor her name!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My creative art includes a wide range of things to share with our community. I create products, apparel, & glamorous looks on men and women. I believe that because I create products for men and women it sets me apart from other cosmetologist. Currently I am a freelance artist. Before I begin working for myself I worked in a salon for 4 years. It was not easy maintaining clients & a business. It’s almost like running two businesses all day. However, my brand promotes wellness, self-care, & love. It invites you to care for yourself while loving how my products enhance the natural you!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
There are different places to visit and things to do while in my town! That’s why I love growing my business in Birmingham AL. It is an honor. During the week day when I’m out networking with my friends I visit Sleek Sports Bar & Hush lounge. They have some of the best hookahs & drinks. On Tuesdays I visit Euphoria Lounge and get tacos. Euphoria is one of the hottest lounges in Birmingham that is known for bringing fresh new artist to the city. They host a variety of concerts and other events there. It’s always an honor to meet new customers there. On the weekend, after brunch at Southern Kitchen or a walk at Railroad Park, I take my friends to Hush lounge and enjoy soulful music by DJSlugga. One of Birmingham’s hottest DJ’s. Birmingham is thriving with young beautiful leaders our current mayor Randall Woodfin has brought amazing businesses & events for my friends and I to enjoy while networking!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to shout out my grandmother Virginia Duster Davis. She was my biggest mentor growing up. May her soul R.I.H.P.
