We had the good fortune of connecting with Jess Davis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jess, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process came from my passion for video gaming. Realizing the lack of attention females received in the video gaming industry, I started my company as a platform to connect females around the world in the gaming industry. I knew there were a lot of women that played video games, but it wasn’t a big focus to highlight them in 2013. The clothing piece of my company is a bonus, it’s a symbol of representation, empowerment, unity, pride and something each female or ally should be proud to wear. GameHer is the Lifestyle!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m most excited about my company growing over the years. When I first launched my company in 2013 there wasn’t a focus on women in gaming, and now in 2022, “all the focus” is on women in gaming. I’m proud to know that I was “ahead of my time”, so it’s nice to see how far the gaming industry has come. My entrepreneurial journey hasn’t been easy AT ALL. As a first generational entrepreneur, I’ve learned so much and when you are passionate about something you just continue to learn all you can to keep evolving. You are going to make mistakes, miss steps, but all you can do is continue to learn and grow from all the adversity. They say “nothing good is going to come easy”, and I’ve definitely learned that throughout my career. You have to put in the work!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would definitely take them to get some chicken wings from one of the American Deli’s. We would also have to hit Fletchers to get some blue cheese and honey hot wings! 🙂 There are lots of great food places in the city, so restaurants would be the majority of the trip.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shoutout all the females in the gaming industry! Continue to spread positive energy amongst the gaming community members! Keep loving your craft, putting work in your craft and most importantly Having FUN while doing so!

Shoutout to my family that has been my rock in my career thus far! Shoutout to my big brother for sparking my passion for gaming by letting me play with him when I didn’t have my own gaming console! 🙂
