Hi Jershika, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I look at risk taking as a leap of faith rather than something to be fearful about. I was raised to be resilient, strong minded, & be very determined to achieve all my goals. Either you try & succeed, or if you fail keep trying until you accomplish the very thing you’re destined to do.I find that those risk I take are the very thing I need to push me closer to my purpose in life. Some of the biggest fears I had about risk taking have been the greatest faith increases, greatest opportunities of my lifetime & just growth overall. Risk taking is never a bad thing, the saying “you get knocked down, get back up again”is not just cliche it’s the truth. My truth….

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
So I am an independent artist, singer, songwriter & actor. I started leading songs at church in children’s choir. Then I became a worship leader, all while acting in stage plays & traveling. I decided to take a leap of faith to audition for a singing competition show called “NBC The Voice”, which lead me to become a Top 5 finalist on John Legends Team. This journey was never easy many times I was not sure if this was my purpose in life and wanted to quit, but as I kept singing using my voice to be a light, I learned that singing was a way to heal broken hearts. That’s what made me realize this is my destiny this is my purpose…& I must never quit. I want the world to know that I found this to be true for me .. if you’re unsure about your purpose in life, just know it’s the very thing that you can’t live without… that one thing that fills your soul…Mines is singing.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m always up for adventures & trying new things. We would first go grab brunch in Waco at Magnolia Table it’s such great spot, & definitely a vibe…then we would go to top golf for a good game of missing the target lol, I’m not the best at golfing but I find it hilarious when we miss.Then a movie sounds great too or we could end it off with a night at main event with good food, arcade games and a competitive game of bowling.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to give a shout out to my grandparents, & my parents…. Everything my mother and father taught me, came from generational seeds that were planted… & it has truly been a blessing to my life. I am the women I am today because of my family laying down the foundation …making sure we make the best out of the life we are given.
