We had the good fortune of connecting with Jerrod Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jerrod, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Having realized the direction I was going In no longer served a meaningful purpose to me. I am grateful for all of my employers which I learned a great deal of work ethic, skills, and humility. A lot of times my hard work went unnoticed and sometimes I was congratulated. Either way I kept my head down and began strategizing my purpose. It led me to the perfect name for my company back sometime towards the end of 2017. “Will Fixx It”, came to life and solidified February of 2018. Initially I started out doing side jobs in the evening time during the week and also on the weekends. Then I had an epiphany, I noticed how well I was doing alone in comparison to my previous employer. I prayed about it and kept at it throughout my work career as an employee. A mentor of mine Mike Sneed of Appliance Boot Camp by way of JT Hustlez would show me how to bridge the uncertainty gap from where I was to where I wanted to truly go. Soon just before Covid-19, my business operation was in motion and figured I’m ready to take my leap of faith. This entrepreneurial journey is one of the best things to happen in my life. I can laugh about it now but I must say I have never been more nervous but excited in my life to branch off on my own. The thing I craved most for during that whole process was the freedom I would soon have still doing what I love to do while taking care of my family. Now here I am heading into 2022 with NO plans of slowing down!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’m most proud of the quality work I’ve gone out to do or consulted a client over the phone. To see or hear the excitement for a customer, the fact that they could use their appliances again after a repair, or install it’s fuel for me. To get to this point was not an easy task. Prior to me venturing off on my own I did a lot of research about the industry. I weighed all the pros and cons I could weigh to make sure this move would work. Mentally, the greatest risk was realizing after my last employer that everything I do moving forward especially financially is all on me. The people I thought was in my corner wasn’t so I accepted I couldn’t bring everybody with me on this path and gravitated to like minded individuals. Some lessons I learned: all money isn’t good money, work-life balance is a must, and just do it.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
One of my favorite places to hang out in the city is Little 5 Points to either grab drinks or food also to enjoy the scenery. For sight seeing I would recommend sky view Ferris wheel located in the heart of the city or riding the Peachtree trolley for a tour. Two of my favorite spots to eat definitely would Slutty Vegan for a couple burgers and the Atlanta Fish Market for some seafood. I like to visit Lake Altoona to have some fun in the water or to relax a bit. The nightlife is like no other city it’s plenty of places to choose from for party goers.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First off, I must thank God for everything he’s provided and currently is doing in my life. I would like to thank myself for having patience, trusting the process and remaining disciplined. My two daughters Nyla and Kai for being the greatest motivations for me and Kanica for being a listening ear while I was figuring this journey out. Major shoutout to my Dad (Robert Williams Jr) and Granddad (Robert Williams Sr) for showing me at a very young age how to work for myself, they molded a lot of who I am today. My mom (Sandra) for her love always. My uncle Gene for all the conversations he would share with me about doing great and being somebody in this lifetime. Ms. Tristan Wiley who recruited me as an HVAC tech, thanks for giving me an opportunity to join the organization to learn a craft that would do many things for my future. Again Mike Sneed of Appliance Boot Camp (ABC 10) by way of JT Hustlez for having a platform that teaches the masses how to navigate entrepreneurship. I would also like to thank anyone that’s handed my business card to the next person, reposted a story of mine on their social media, or call/text me to let me know they’re watching and keep going.
