We had the good fortune of connecting with Jerrime Golightly and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jerrime, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
The thought process behind starting my business was to be able to provide food for my family and the community as a whole. During the pandemic ,I saw the demand of food rise in the community and grocery stores not being able to supply the demand . At that point , the journey of becoming a butcher started and it progressed to Goshen Family Farmland.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
We are in the business of selling quality Grass fed beef and fresh produce. We pride ourselves on serving beef and produce with no hormones ,fillers and other harmful substances . Our animals are free range and they are grass fed on a strict diet . In addition, our produce is grown on healthy soil that relies on natural substances from the Earth. Through these factors, we stand On the motto, “ where quality counts”.

We are where we are today by surrounding ourselves with people who’ve been in the industry for over 20 years. Also, I have built relationships with local farmers in our community. This journey has not been easy to overcome, One of the biggest challenges was that I’ve never worked on the farm before, or with livestock with my background in previous industries. Coming from the food and beverage industry, when I seen the scale of how large an actual cow was, I was amazed. I did not understand the process of processing an animal, and I had to learn everything from scratch.

One of the lessons I learned, was the lost art of butchering. It requires technique to bring a nice cuts of beef to your table.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
One of my favorite places to dine is the Third Space On Auburn Avenue in Atlanta. They serve quality food ,a great ambience , and a catered chef experience. Me being a family person, I like to host barbecues with our nice cuts of beef on the grill. And of course , our beef comes from Goshen Family Farmlands.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We are giving a shout out to Atlanta Harvest. They’re a farm in the metro Atlanta area ,that supplies food for the community. As a fellow business in the same industry, they have shared mentorship, love ,and has encouraged us in this journey.
