We had the good fortune of connecting with Jerrell Burke and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jerrell, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process was having a plan and how do I execute it. I thought of how will Soul 4 U stand out from the others. Whats unique about me. What kind of services I wanted to provide. What type of clients did I want to attract. Who is my audience. How do I market and bring people in. How do I build relationships with the clients. What sets me apart from the rest.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets me apart is everyone is not built for Natural Hair. Its a lot of work and I make it look easy! I am excited about this bc I get to show clients it’s not as bad or hard as it seems. I got to where I am today professionally bc I stayed consistent! I had a vision and followed it no matter what! No, it was not easy! I overcame by giving everything and everything situation time to manifest! There are so many lessons. I learned more patience for sure! I learned to be humble and its OK if someone leaves. Not everyone is meant to be on the same journey!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Downtown Decatur is nice to place to visit. Hang out and grab some ice cream from Jeni’s. East Atlanta is also a great place to meet different people, grab a bite to eat, and dance the night away if that’s what you are feeling.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My clients! I absolutely love the clients! Without their encouragement and support, I probably would have given up. However, they wouldn’t let me! Their dedication and loyalty to me gave me the push to keep striving!
