We had the good fortune of connecting with Jerod Morton and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jerod, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Taking the leap and trusting GODCan you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me apart the most is my versatility as an entertainer. I write songs for myself and others, I produce music from scratch, I engineer or (mix) and even market it, and also play piano and saxophone. I’m most excited about the opportunities I’ve been able to create for not only myself but for others like friends who are artists and producers but also the youth. I am excited about motivating the youth to do what they love. I got where I am by staying focused, staying consistent, knowing my worth, being genuine, thinking big and ignoring those who doubted or told me my dreams weren’t realistic. I made sure I worked EVERYDAY. This was NOT easy, but it paid off to have solid individuals around me who wanted to see me win. I overcame challenges by trusting that the road was already paved for me and all I had to do was put one foot in front of the other and keep moving against all odds. Im never afraid to ask for help but was aware of those who would try to take advantage of me. Along the way I have learned to manage my time wisely, never let someone project their fear of risk on me, be a useful person generally, and treat my brand with respect and never sell it short. If anything I want people to know that they can become anything they want if the work is put in. Lastly, I want people to invest in our youth as much as possible. They are the future.Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If I had a friend in for the week and wanted to show them the city I of course would take them down town. To eat I would go to Bella Lisboa, Hennens, Stir, Champys, mainstreet meats or TheFeed CO. For drinks I would go to Southside social, CBC, or Chattanooga Cigar Club. We would have to go on a hike, Chattanooga is notorious for its Mountain Views. The Bridge and aquarium are our biggest attractions So those at a MUST, but there are also places like the Moxy, shows at TheSignal, Southside social and even more RAW places like JJs Bohemia I would go. We could go door to door down town and never get bored. The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Soundcorps, Rise Chattanooga, DynamoStudios, TVFCU, EPB, Arts Build, Rhyme-n-chatt, First things First, Flock House.
