We had the good fortune of connecting with Jermaine The Prince and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jermaine, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor I would say to being successful period is consistency and motivation. Without these very 2 important factors I can’t tell you where I would be right now. Being motivated, having the energy and the passion to be able to doing what you love is hella needed. But consistency, to be willing to do everything you just did over and over and over again, I think that takes real heart for a person to do.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Before I came into Hip-Hop and announced I’m a rapper I didn’t know what type of sound I would develop. What type of sound I would deliver. I would say that is one of the main things that sets me aside from this generation of rappers. Right now in my career I’m mostly excited about my lastest music project “New Spirit” dropping July 30th on all music platforms. For me, this is my graduation and a step up from my last project, “The Mic Stand & Me”. I can definitely see and hear the progression. I got here in my career by just simply never quitting. If you quit you’ll regret it forever. I also had to realize not putting in the required “Work” is just as bad as quitting. With a routine and rhythm in life anything can become second nature. I wouldn’t say easy. I overcame my difficulties by focusing on the bigger picture. On what’s truly important down the line instead of in the moment. One excellent life lesson I learned is to love yourself the way you want to be loved because no one else will. What I want people to know about my story and I is that I simply, truly in my heart know that I can’t be stopped. Quoting one of my most favorite musicians of all time, Big Sean, “You gon have to kill me for me to stop getting in, you feel me?”

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would say we would go to downtown Atlant first. After the fact hit a couple of studios, go to couple food places such as Golden Corral, Slutty Vegan, and hit the grocery store because food isn’t cheap. Go performing, let them meet a couple of my friends, and do whatever they would want as well.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My biggest supporters would have to be my friends and family most definitely. I’m my biggest fan and critic but I also forget how big of a impact my family has on how I’m feeling about my work. I usually don’t want any critiques from no one on my art but when I do want an opinion it’s usually something I needed to hear.
