We had the good fortune of connecting with Jeremy Ramsey and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jeremy, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
As a proud black man coming from a single-parent home, I saw the struggles of what my mother and late grandmother went through raising two kids. As I got older, God put me through certain trials to teach me growth, patience, and wisdom because God knew I needed to help people. Those experiences fueled BLK NOIZE INC. My challenges growing up inspired me to establish a company that addresses systematic inequalities and empowers individuals from underrepresented communities. As a young child, no father figure existed in my home. Therefore, I had to learn from my mother and grandmother. I didn’t have many friends, so it was hard for me to socialize. I felt I needed to fit in somewhere. I was bullied in school with no sense of identity. While going through those issues, I was dealing with family issues as well. Even though my mom was there physically, there was an emotional disconnect. My dad was not there physically or mentally and felt like the black sheep of the family. My grandmother is the one who kept that balance for me. I graduated from a technical college called Fortis Institute. I have an associate’s degree in information technology. However, I couldn’t benefit from it. So, from there, I worked in call centers as a customer service rep at many places.
I was so unhappy. 2020, during the pandemic, I talked to God and told him I wanted to know my purpose. What am I here for? Why do I even exist? After that particular prayer, God started removing people from my life; I went through some more hardships financially, and then I checked out. In my mind, I felt so low. It wasn’t until 2022 that God placed me in a job that aided cancer patients at UAB Hospital. I worked as an assistant to social workers. I loved what I did. It felt amazing to be able to help people in need. Giving has always been a part of my character. God showed me my purpose. I enrolled in Jefferson State and started from scratch as a Human Services major. My position at UAB lasted only a short time, as the contract had ended. I was so disappointed. The good thing was that I saw that there is a need for all people across the state of Alabama and in the African American Community when it comes to our mental and physical health, along with resources for the sick. A voice is missing, and there has to be a representation of our people in this particular part of our life.
We are silently dying because of traumas we have faced or not understanding the effects that it has on our children. We need counseling; We need free and or affordable resources! Thus, BLK NOIZE INC was born. BLK NOIZE stands for our BLK community to minimize these issues that affect us daily, and we need to make a lot of NOIZE about these issues. God showed me the need for my existence and why I am here. I did my first food drive in September, which was so successful. Eventually, I want to go National and my grandmother, who is now in heaven, to be proud of me! To anyone starting a business, you have to have a purpose? It is sometimes about something other than the money. You need to have a good heart posture when focusing on your business. If you want to start a business, start with a hobby. What is your passion? What drives you to be an ebullient human being? If you don’t know, it’s time to do some soul-searching, which is difficult. Trials are there to teach you growth, patience, and values. Out of those trials, you will then have your purpose. That’s how I started my business.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I see things from a different perspective when it comes down to the urban communities. During the present day, where social media presence is everything, I feel that, as African Americans, we tend to put ourselves in a box of standards that we can’t even reach. I like to feel free and encourage others to be free as well. My journey and struggles were not easy, but needed. Those things propelled me to have a passion for helping others, and a first-hand understanding of obstacles faced by individuals with similar backgrounds led me to build BLK NOIZE Inc. as a vehicle for change and empowerment. My company is based on mentorship programs, educational workshops, and networking opportunities. BLK NOIZE Inc.’s story is one of triumph over adversity, perseverance in the face of hardship, and the transformative power of faith.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well, If you are in Birmingham, AL, I like the outdoors, so the City Walk is beautiful. Hiking Red Mountain Park.
For good food:

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to shout out to God because I wouldn’t be able to be here today without him. My mom (Rhonda Ramsey) worked very hard to raise me even though we didn’t have the best relationship; she gave me taught me endurance; my grandmother Rest in Peace (Brenda Ramsey) taught me to be sensitive and taught me about God, and raised me to be a respectful young man. My sister (Jerrica Ramsey) and my best friend, Raiashley Hudson, for being there with me through thick and thin through my troubles. Meka Howard, thank you for recommending me and reintroducing me to Christ. Also, thank you for recommending me for the shoutout. My friends Ciara Howard, Raquelle Crear, and Shante Lee.
