We had the good fortune of connecting with Jennifer Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jennifer, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process behind starting my own business was: I wanted to create generational wealth for my family. I want to leave a legacy behind that will out live me for many generations. I wanted to especially show my son that it doesn’t matter what the odds are up against you. You have the ability to do anything in this world with hard work, sacrifice, and never giving up on yourself no matter what. In my culture we weren’t taught certain things when it came to starting or even owning a business. I wanted to change the game.

What should our readers know about your business?
What sets me apart from others is my passion, and determination to help others. Some people don’t want to help people because they are too worry about someone getting ahead of them. I love helping and educating people about the unknown. Like the quote says “Knowledge is Power”!! I pride myself on giving as much knowledge as possible. Some people just need a little assistance.

I’m most proud of when it comes to my business is that in a short period of time with the help of God I’ve built three companies and have been apart of two book projects as an co-author. So many amazing opportunities have been coming my way. It’s truly mind blowing in a good way. I remember almost three years ago I didn’t know what I was going to do. I laid on my floor crying out to God to help me. When I tell you God answer prayers believe just that!! He will go above and beyond to exceed your expectations if you stay connected to him.

I got to where I am today because I was a girl with a vision and a dream. I didn’t let what I didn’t have stop me from getting to my destination. I always knew even when I was younger that I was different and it was so much more to me. I just didn’t know what it was or how to channel it. It took me almost 5 years to give birth to everything that I am currently doing right now. I always wanted to launch a nonprofit organization but I didn’t know what kind to launch. I always said I wanted to do something with girls. Then hit me a year ago what type of organization I should launch. My tax and credit repair business I use to help people with their credit and didn’t even charge them. I was just having fun with it. The events planning business everyone knows I’m a organized person who love planning events, dressing myself and others. That was a no brainer for me.

My journey in life definitely hasn’t been easy at all. I remember times I didn’t have enough to pay my bills, buy food, or buy things for my son. I constantly prayed that things would get better for me. Eventually they did thank God. It was times I went to bed hungry but I always made sure my son ate somehow. I look back at how far I’ve came and honestly I wouldn’t change anything about my life. Including the heartbreaks, setbacks, and constant let downs. Because it made me a more stronger woman on the inside and outside. God was preparing me for this moment in my life where he is taking me. If I didn’t go through the bad I wouldn’t be able to embrace all what God has for me. To some people my journey might have been funny but to me it’s a blueprint to another woman who is currently walking in my shoes. My testimony will help and uplift another woman to let her know in spite of what happens to you, you have the ability to take control of your life and turn everything around and still be a successful woman of society. I know that at times bad things happen to good people.

The lessons I’ve learned along the way is simple never give up, no matter how many times you fall!! Keep striving to be a better you!!

I want the world to know about me and my brand is: I love what I do, I wake up everyday thinking about how I can impact this world more with the knowledge I have down on the inside of me. I plan on doing some major things in this world before I depart this earth. Everything that I’m doing will live on for many many generations to come. I want to change the game with my family instead leave behind keys, deeds, and the blueprint of how to become successful and to sustain it for many years.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take my friends and family downtown Chicago on a cruise around the city to view it at night. Its so beautiful. We would have drinks and mingle with each other for the two hours of the cruise. After the boat tour is over with, we go to the Signature Room overlooking the city. The ambiance there is breath taken. To close the night out head over to a nice jazz spot to indulge into some grown folks music.

The best spot I traveled to a few times was Jamaica. I absolutely love that place. The food, customer service, and ambiance is amazing. Every time I’ve been there I never want to come back home. When I’m there I don’t think about anything else that’s going on in the world. It brings me so much comfort, and relaxation when I’m there.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My grandmother Marzetta W Patterson is the woman that I truly look up to. I went through a lot of rough patches throughout my life. It was her consistent encouragement, prayers that kept me going. I remember times I would call her crying and saying I’m done I can’t do this anymore. She would always say to me you not a quitter are you? My response would always be no!! Her talking with me daily and giving me heartfelt advice always and will mean the world to me. I couldn’t imagine not being able to talk with her on a daily basis.
