We had the good fortune of connecting with Jennifer Ramirez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jennifer, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
When I first started my small business, I wanted my customers to feel beautiful despite their size, shape, or color. I wanted them to see themselves from my point of view which is why my “brand” is called 7ENIFERPOV.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets my artwork apart from others is that I do all my portraits with my mouth. I have a disability called Arthrogryposis Multiplex Congenita (AMC). This disability has my arm permanently bent restricting the movement of my joints. Not being able to have much movement in my arms and hands, I learned how to write and draw with my mouth at the age of 4. I originally started with headshots of friends and family. Out of nowhere, I had someone ask me if I could paint them unclothed. I said yes and that’s when 7ENIFERPOV began. Her reaction was priceless. She thanked me and told me she felt beautiful. She also stated that she was glad I painted her from my point of view. I now focus on both Headshots and the visual art of unclothed human figures. I post process videos on Instagram reels (@7eniferpov) where I record myself painting with my mouth.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to thank my mother, Marleni Velasquez and my best friend, Judith Mejia, for always pushing me to move forward with my art. I’ve always been into drawing portraits but I never wanted to post my artwork online because I didn’t think it was good enough. My mother has been one of my biggest supporters out there and always encourages me to post online. Thanks to her, my small business has grown. Thank you to Judith for always believing in me.
