We had the good fortune of connecting with Jennifer Hartley and Patti Mobley and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jennifer Hartley and, is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
Our company, Gage’s Creations Soaps & More, creates handmade bath and body products using quality, natural ingredients that you will not find in common bars of soaps where you cannot even pronounce the words of the ingredients. We have very high expectations when it comes to making products for our customers because we also use them daily for our skincare needs. We are very selective when purchasing our ingredients and only purchase from vendors we trust and know their products are high quality. When making our cold pressed soaps, we have to let the bars of soap cure for at least 4-6 weeks before allowing our customers to purchase. People are not aware of what goes into making our bath and body products and do not know that it may take longer than a week for it to be ready especially with soap. Another aspect to our business is finding the best containers for our liquid soap, body butters, and sugar scrubs as well as jars for our candles. We definitely look at the quality of the containers, where they are coming from, and also the price including shipping since this can affect the cost of our products. It has been quite difficult during the pandemic to find quality containers but we have been doing our research online and have found vendors that provide the best containers for our products. We are two southern Christian women who love the craft of soapmaking and enjoy making products to share with others in our world!

What should our readers know about your business?
Gage’s Creations Soaps and More creates handmade bath and body products with quality, natural ingredients. We are so excited to share our spectacular products with you! Have you ever read the ingredients for a bar of soap you purchased from the store? It has a list of ingredients with long words or words you have never seen let alone can pronounce correctly. At Gage’s Creations, our cold pressed soaps are created using natural ingredients like olive oil, coconut oil, palm oil, lye, distilled water, sweet almond oil, castor oil, colloidal oatmeal, fragrance, and mica. Our shop consists of two Southern girls that enjoy the craft of soapmaking! My mom, Patti, is the gifted creator of all the products you see on our website from cold pressed soaps to body butters and sugar scrubs. Everything is created by hand with natural ingredients that are good for your skin and body! My name is Jennifer, Patti’s daughter, and I help my mom with the craft of making soap items but I mainly handle the other side of the business by maintaining our social media and website to promote our business. We launched our soap business about two years ago and we have seen our business grow tremendously this past year. Running a business is not easy and you have to put in hours of work to make it successful. We both have full time jobs so we have to find time after work in the evenings and on the weekends to take care of our business. Most of our success and sales is from being vendors at different festivals and shows. The pandemic really hurt when everything was shutdown so we had to focus more on social media and staying connected with our customers through Facebook, Instagram, etc. We are happy that things are opening back up and this spring we have several festivals and shows setup for people to experience our products in person. We have overcome challenges in our business because we continue to work hard, show perseverance, and find new ways or create new products to keep our customers engaged. We love and enjoy what we do and look forward to sharing our amazing products with everyone! We appreciate all our customers and want them to enjoy our products as much as we do! We are located in McDonough, Georgia and do several festivals and shows around the area. Come out and experience our products in person and if you are out of state, please check out our products at gagescreationssoap.com!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We have some really good places in McDonough, GA.  Several restaurants on McDonough Square like Pasta Max, Crust & Craft, Macon Street Tacos, Kirby G’s, and Scoops.  Also, Southern Roots located on McDonough Square has entertainment as well as great food and drinks. The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We would like to thank all our current customers and future customers for supporting our small business! Jesus Christ has truly blessed us with this business and we give him all the credit to our success!
