We had the good fortune of connecting with Jenee Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jenee, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
My entrepreneurship journey has definitely not been smooth. There’s been bumps and turns and a lot of soul searching but one thing I can say is that I have learned so much throughout this journey. It took 3 businesses prior to the start of TechDirect Designs to realize what was in store for me.
My graphic design journey started in 2020 during the COVID pandemic. Because of previously having online boutiques, I got pretty good with creating content for the websites and social media pages. A close friend asked me to start creating content for her business page and from there everything took off. With encouragement from her and my husband I decided I was going to take a leap of faith and I haven’t looked back.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My business is TechDirect Designs, a graphic design and branding company. One thing that sets my brand apart from others is that I have been in the same seat as my clients multiple times over having started a shoe boutique, clothing boutique, kids boutique and fashion blog in the past prior to getting into graphic design. From that I feel like it gives me a sense of relatability knowing how much they want to make their brand a success and how much passion and care they take.
It motivates me so much more because I know that some of them with the slightest of help or a more professional look for their brand can take them so much further. it gets me excited to see how excited they are about the outcome of their project as if it almost gives them a little recharge to keep them going.
The road to me starting my business has not been easy and I honestly never suspected that I would end up here but this is something that I truly love! Making so many mistakes in the past has not only taught me to do better but allowed me to have the knowledge to share with my clients. Whenever I see a client struggling in some aspect of their business and they ask me my advice or what I think would be the best plan of action, I take pride in the fact that I can give them an educated response based on how it worked or didn’t work for me.
I want the world to know that figuring out what your passion or your dream is may not come right away for everyone but if it is something that’s for you, it will find its way to YOU.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m a huge foodie so if my best friend was visiting and I wanted to show her a good one thing we’re going to do is have some good food and drinks! And of course we have to throw in a couple of fun activities. Some of the places I would take her to eat include: Osha Thai & Sushi, Le Colonial, Rock Steady, Nana’s Chicken & Waffles, & Botica
Some Activities I would plan for us to do are: AmazingCo’s Mystery Date Picnic, Bike Riding on the beltline (with some food & bar snack stops), Bear & Honey Candle Making Class, Garden Parc’s all you can eat brunch party and probably end off bar hopping in Edgewood.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Who deserves credit? Hmmmm… definitely I would have to say, my CLIENTS! Each and every one of my clients is a girl boss just looking to live their dream and take a chance on themselves just like me. I see how much time and effort they put into their brands just striving for success. So what motivates me on every project or with every brand I work with is the small business owner behind the brand wanting to take their business seriously and to the next level, wanting to kill it in their prospective field and that keeps going and makes me strive to provide the best quality product that I possibly can.
