Meet Jen Hanover | Serial Entrepreneur & Mindful Productivity Expert

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jen Hanover and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jen, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
This business is my fourth business, and it seems at this point that starting a business is the only way for me to go. Once you’ve built your own thing, it would be really hard to go back to working for someone else. Mind you, I work for my clients every single day, but that’s different.
The thought process behind this business was rooted in my trauma, actually. I used to own a Bikram Yoga studio in Vancouver, Canada, and when I sold it to pursue my writing career, I became very ill for nearly a decade. I tried everything to get better, and nothing worked. When I finally figured out what it was going to take to heal and get back to living, I was in a position of essentially needing to start my life and career over from scratch.
I created my program, “Tiny Bubbles Follow-Through System for Creatives” to help idea people who are in a similar position as I was. I call it a ‘pivotal point of change’, you know, divorce, career change, moving… big forks in the road where you want to sit down and reassess.
People who have a lot of ideas — creatives, entrepreneurs, big thinkers that sort of thing — there’s always this fear that time will keep passing and you won’t do anything with your ideas. A pivotal point of change is a great time to commit to following your heart and making your dreams happen.
Tiny Bubbles (it’s a 12 week online program) helps people get really specific about what they want and then reverse engineer the life they want to live into small, actionable steps that go in their calendar. It’s an emotionally intelligent planning system, with practices around mindfulness and self compassion, which are the things that really helped me when I was rebuilding from ground zero.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
The Tiny Bubbles program is all about making time for your art and the things you really want to do, which is something that every single creative I’ve ever spoken to has issues with. Really, I created this program because I knew that if I didn’t have some kind of a structure in place, that I would die with all of my ideas still in my head and my heart.
The biggest challenge I’ve ever endured is my illness, which is called Topical Steroid Withdrawal. It’s a terrible condition, and it cost me nearly a decade of my life. I think that when a lot of people go through something super challenging, whether it’s a chronic illness, getting fired from a job, going through a serious breakup… they need something to help them realign to what’s important to them. They need help coming back to who they ARE, and art is a big way to connect to that.
With my program, people will learn the skills to not only articulate what they want to create, but also how to make it happen.
I want the world to know that I care, and that I created this program to help other people who want to make a difference in the world. Our minds are so scattered these days that if we don’t do something about that, we can’t make the difference we want to make.
Mindful productivity is a solution to so many problems we face in our distracting world.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If they were coming to Cabo I would give them an itinerary of all the best beaches around, like Playa Las Palmas, Playa Empacadora, and Chileno Bay. Snorkelling would be high on the agenda, as would dining at some really great local spots like Farol 16, Hacienda Beach Club, and El Huerto.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My shoutout is dedicated to my Mom. My whole life she’s encouraged me to get after my dreams, and now I’m launching a company that not only is in line with my dreams, but helps other people to follow their dreams too. I would not be doing this if it wasn’t for my Mom.
