We had the good fortune of connecting with Jemma Winters and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jemma, what is the most important factor behind your success?
staying true to my authentic self ! Is a huge aspect of my business . I have an enterprise of collective artists under the same roof . Who are also true to there authentic selves . Jemini hair artistry is a “grow you “ company . Supporting , educating and giving hair artists and hair guests a safe , light , fun work environment

What should our readers know about your business?
I’ve been a hair artist for 21 years ! Wow That’s gonna by fast . I’ve gone from answering the phone in a small town salon to apprenticing whilst challenging all the exams . To making the move to the big city working for an amazing salon owner who helped mold me into a stronger artist . To management . To renting a chair (contractor ) to being a salon owner in 8 short years .

I have now owned Jemini Hair Artistry since 2009. Jemini evolved into something bigger then I had ever imagined .

Never the less I’ve been able to stay my true self . Honest , trustworthy, transparent and driven .

Jemini is a play on words “jem” my nick name and “I”
Some may argue who the “I” is . But I firmly believe it’s anyone that’s has joined my team in the past , present , and future . Everyone has had an important role wether it’s been for many years or just a few short months.

I’ve never been a goal setter
But more of a problem solver . And the salon is a result of me having to survive and do what I had to do to stay my true self . I’ve turned a new leaf now and am set on reaching goals and putting the problem solving behind ‘me to now take jemini to the next level .

It’s been a rollercoaster of
Emotions , learning curves , and decision making .

It’s not been easy but I wouldn’t change it for the world . But one thing I can say is dive in and swim !

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well we live an hour away from the mountains. I would def take them to Banff . We would have a spa weekend Go out for an amazing dinner . Peruse the shops . And perhaps go to the natural hotspring and end the night is it’s some drinks and a bit of dancing . From there I would take them to ice racing on ghost lake . With my Subaru and have some drinks and check out the scene .

Some mall time would be amazing catch a movie or some live theatre .

Take them to my home town Drumheller and check out the tourist attractions and cute shops .

Maybe a drive to west Edmonton mall to do galaxy land and the water park .

Eat at the Calgary tower .

And end up at my fav place Betty Lou’s library for some Iive music and drinks .

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have an amazing relationship with my brand representative Patti Stephens . She has become a huge part of my business and Introduced me to Labiosthetique Canada ! This brand as well as Patti backs up and supports my business 100% .

I’ve also started with a business support company high performance salon academy! I’m new to them but in the 3 short months I’m flabbergasted at my growth !

My husband chase who has always been there for me. Has watched me grow into the business owner I am today .

Also my mum and dad who have encouraged me from day 1 .
