We had the good fortune of connecting with Jee Chon and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jee, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
As confusing as it sounds, I see myself as an artist as a nurse injector in aesthetics. Whether it’s enhancing beautiful lips through filler or smoothing out lines and wrinkles with botox or microneedling, I am able to create changes in my clients’ faces to improve their overall beauty in the way they’ve always wanted. I use products to add or remove volume in certain areas, smooth out texture or grooves, and incorporate different techniques to change the shadows and highlights of their face.
Being a Pediatric ICU nurse, I have to find balance in my life to thrive mentally, physically, and emotionally. Taking care of critically ill patients is a difficult calling, where I cannot turn my cheek towards difficult things. I feel so proud to support families on their worst days but so many times it can leave me heartbroken and exhausted. Pursuing this second career has given me another form of fulfillment by helping my clients look and feel confident in the person they see in the mirror every morning while also giving me the artistic freedom to use my hands to create something beautiful. It fills my cup and helps me to be a better person and better nurse, which is why I pursued my career in medical aesthetics.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
House of Tox Aesthetics is a med spa that I founded in December of 2023. We specialize in nonsurgical aesthetic treatments such as wrinkle relaxers/botox, dermal fillers, microneedling, and etc..
I started my practice after working as a clinician at another med spa practice part time while pursuing my Pediatric ICU nurse career full time. Working a stressful job at the hospital, I desperately needed to find another passion that would help balance my life and create fulfillment in other ways. Being a nurse injector in aesthetics became a passion of mine because it gave me the artistic freedom to help enhance client’s beauty in the way they always wanted. It’s fulfilling to know that I can help boost my clients’ confidence and love who they see in the mirror. I wanted to start my own practice to be able to I give clients the best quality, service, and results that I can personally take great pride in by having the freedom to take my time and connect with my clients. The quality of work and service that I provide at my practice fully embodies who I am as a person.
I’m always excited to meet and engage with new clients to help them achieve and maintain their aesthetic goals. I always feel so honored that they chose House of Tox Aesthetics to be a part of their journey.
Starting a business from scratch with no guidance or experience in business was extremely challenging for me. Starting this on my own without a partner meant nobody could pick up the slack when I was tired from working at the hospital or if I had other obligations and priorities. It took an immense amount of patience, grit, and discipline to work out every kink to open my business. I regret nothing and have learned so much through this entire process and am blessed to be able to build something of my own that I can be proud of.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I wouldn’t be the person I am today without my loving family.
Being first generation immigrants, my parents came to the US with little in their pockets and knowing little to no english for the sole purpose of giving my sister and I an opportunity at a better life.
My father worked 7 days a week, leaving for work before I woke up for school and coming home after I went to sleep. Never did I ever hear my father complain about how tired he is or how hard life was for him. Even when he didn’t have enough and times became hard financially, he never let my sister and I see his struggles.
My mother relentlessly supported my sister and I in whatever we wanted to pursue. She never let my sister and I feel alone in our struggles. Every emotion I felt, she felt with me. When I was happy, my mother wept with joy and when I was sad, my mother’s heart would break with mine.
They have shown me how to live my life with grit and to always work harder than those around me. I would truly be nothing without them and every single sacrifice they made for me.
