We had the good fortune of connecting with Jedeye Moree and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jedeye, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
Everyone should always keep going as long as you are going with the right intentions in mind. As I mention in my song “Don’t Give up”, if you choose to give up it will only be a matter of time before you truly regret it and wish you had kept going.
Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
My art is always inspired by whatever is going on in my life, what is going on around me, or sometimes I may be inspired by a movie I have watched or a book I have read. Even if I am inspired by something that someone else has created, I am always able to put it into my own words and ideas. Originality is one thing that separates me from others. My goal is to always sound different than what other people are use to hearing as well as sound better than what I have done in the past. I am proud of the progress I have made over time, and I am most excited about the future that will be presented to me from all the work I do in the present. I got to where I am today by not giving up and reminding myself why I do what I do. It’s not easy, but if it were easy it wouldn’t be right I would rather earn it. I overcome the challenges by staying focused on my path and not comparing myself to what other people are doing. One thing I have learned is to do your best to be a better version of yourself and everything else will fall in place. Something that the world should know about my story is that this is just the start of it and I appreciate everyone who is becoming a part of it.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
One place I will take someone who is visiting the area is to the art museum in the downtown Jackson area. They have a lot of unique pieces while introducing facts to you about mississippi that you would never know if not visiting it. A place where I would take them to eat is “Quinn’s Grab and Go”. It is a food truck providing some of the best burgers and philly-cheese sandwiches based in Richland, MS, but they are mobile and travel to surrounding areas as needed. Another place I would take a friend is to the Ross Barnett reservoir just because it is a nice scene if you enjoy being in nature and looking for a place to relax when the weather is good.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would definitely like to give a shoutout to a very inspiring hip hop artist and entrepreneur James Virgodo. He has a very unique sound and always makes sure the messages are conveyed throughout the duration of his songs. Along with being a great artist, he is also a savvy businessman with top shelf products concerning his merch.
