We had the good fortune of connecting with Jean Atman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jean, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
Balance was not a word I would have used previously. I have always been extremely driven in my desire to help others and uplift all I could, and would often sacrifice myself for that purpose and cause. But, I learned some important lessons along the way that were life-changing and finally created space for that unicorn of a concept… balance.

I learned that you cannot help those who refuse to help themselves. I spent years dedicated to others who I thought needed me but were not prepared to take responsibility for themselves. Once that lesson was learned, it was a game-changer for me and freed my time and energy for other experiences.

I also learned the importance of inner work and healing. I was desperately trying to protect others from harm based on difficult experiences I had in my past and was reacting through my old traumas. Once I healed my stuff, I could see what the actual need was, vs the amplified version I created through the lens of old trauma.

Between those lessons alone, life really took on a new form. Now, I am able to recognize when there is something I need to respond to, when I need to let others do their own work, and I take into account what is in my best interest apart from any co-dependent expectations of others. Now, if I feel like something would overextend me, I choose not to do it. I tune into my needs, and life flows with a beautiful current of experiences. I much prefer to create and help people from that balanced place!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.

My work is different than most as I not only help people heal, but I teach and empower them to also heal themselves. They begin to see why they are stuck and how to free themselves from the looping thoughts, triggered emotions, and their current challenges. People tend to focus on things they cannot change, then wonder why life feels so hard. I guide them to easier ways of being and teach them to focus on where real change can be made.

What makes this work so potent is gaining the awareness of where they are stuck, and learning how to energetically and permanently clear it. When people experience trauma, that wound settles into the energetic system as an imprint. Each time the person talks about that trauma, it begins to stir within the system. If there is no outlet, it simply stirs, then settles back in, without actually exiting the body or energy system. This is why energy clearing is so vital to permanent healing. If you are never clearing through the origin of the wound, you continue to carry that baggage with you – stirring and settling on repeat. I help clear the deep and stuck energetic trauma, which leaves people feeling lighter, freer, and less depressed because they are able to drop off the past pain and heavy energy. They then notice life begins to function easier.

They not only have me to do the heavy lifting of deep energetic clearing work that is keeping them stuck, but they get a front-row seat to how it works so they can apply that process to anything in the future that might surface later. Because I am an open channel, I can easily see deep within the layers of what keeps people stuck. When they gain that information of where it began, it is much easier to heal and clear it.

How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges?
Because this work is so vast and deep, I have always had a hard time describing it. I never knew what to call myself that would fully encompass the potential of the work. This work helps with worthiness challenges, money blocks, self-confidence and esteem issues, trouble trusting in Self, life-purpose confusion, healing from toxic relationships, etc. Basically, anything that is challenging someone can be healed. You just need to know where to look! How do you put alllll that in a title? It has been a challenge!
Throughout the years, the work has continued to evolve, and I never wanted to put it in a box. Thankfully, I didn’t have to! My business was built on word of mouth as others would tell their friends about it and simply say, “Jean changed my life!”

Eventually, I realized at its most basic form, I help people heal from a painful past and create a better future.

What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way?
The lesson I have learned are countless. I feel as if I am a perpetual student of life and think I would get bored otherwise. But, probably the most profound lesson was learning true self-care or what I like to call “soul-care.” Once you learn how to really care for Self, life works in the most beautiful and magical ways!

What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
I remain fiercely dedicated to helping others uplift in their life experience here. In order to help more people, I have created an online course called “Limitless.” It teaches people how to tap into their inner healer, specifically where to look to make real and permanent change, and offers step-by-step guidance to easily access and create their best life. I teach the integrated approach that I offer in my private sessions, so people can feel empowered and confident in making lasting change for themselves. While it is in a group setting, I am very hands-on and continue to serve as a guide so no one has to feel alone on this crazy journey. I love being a part of, and witnessing such beautiful growth!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
That is an interesting question! By nature, I am not a planner. I love to be free to see where the experience leads me. In saying that however, Charleston is known for its fine dining, gorgeous beaches, and historical sites. We could do anything from paddle boarding, sailing, or catching some waves, to embarking on a horse and buggy tour downtown, checking out the marketplace of local vendors, and enjoying exceptional dining, fine wine, and live music while watching the sunset over the water.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I really offer so much gratitude for the hard experiences. Without them, I would not be where I am today.
