We had the good fortune of connecting with Jazmyn Alexis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jazmyn, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
This may sound cliche, but the most important factor behind my success is having faith. There’s been so many times I’ve been told “No”, that I’m not a star, and many times where my projects get delayed or destroyed due to things outside of my control. But my resilience is how I keep defying gravity; and ultimately, my resilience comes from faith. Just like everyone else, It’s up to me to pursue the life and dreams I’ve had since birth and I intend to take on the battle for as long as it takes, and then some. Faith is such a broad factor which is why I believe it’s the most important. Faith exudes confidence. Faith exudes the patience and ability to manifest the impossible. Even in my personal life, faith has helped me to stay on track and not spiral into emotional turmoil, which foresure has happened several times on my journey. The key is bonding self and spirit so that outside forces can’t deter you from your vision of success.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
In this day and age, being a creative is so common. Social Media has allowed anyone, whether it’s your passion or not, to partake in entertainment. This can get frustrating to individuals like myself because of how passionate and how hard I work for my brand. It’s not easy cultivating a talent and being disciplined enough to stay consistent in how you share it with the world. Especially with other factors, personal and business-related, competing for time. My overall experiences can be summed up as an unfinished book of ups and downs. It hasn’t been easy handling these challenges because whether we like it or not, Social media has turned people into bandwagonists and many don’t support unless you are already “on”. It’s also challenging because there is not a guaranteed blueprint to success. I’m literally living life on a trial and error basis. But stated previously, my advantage is my BIG faith and I always lean on it through the good and the bad.
Ultimately I want the world to view my brand as someone being dedicated to quality. I want other singer-songwriters and entertainers to respect and admire my craft for it’s uniqueness and my raw talent. I want to inspire young people as I was once (still am) inspired.
As far as lessons learned thus far, I’d say to be open minded on how you get to your sought destination. Many people come in and out of your life, summing these relationships up as variables. But one thing that should stay fixed is the goal, being open minded will allow you access to several doors leading to the same room. Trust the process. <3

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We come across so many wonderful and genuine people in our lives, who truly want to help and just make a difference. I can feel God’s presence through each and every one of them and I want to say thank you from the middle of my heart. I wouldn’t be who I am today without your guidance and support, you all know who you are. As far as someone in particular, this person has literally sacrificed their life to make sure I never went without. She has never left my side and has always been there to catch me or reposition me for the better. She believed in my purpose before I even knew I had one. And even to this day, she still has my back like no one else EVER will. I’m getting emotional typing this. I just want to say that words will never be able to amount to the gratitude and the love that I will always have for you. A true Queen and My Guardian Angel on Earth. Thank you Mama, I love you to the moon and back.
