We had the good fortune of connecting with Jazmine Taldon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jazmine, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my own business was actually a way to pass time and to make some extra cash during the pandemic. At the time I was an elementary school resource teacher and we were required to stay at home. I have always been creative and decided what better time to start my crafts as a business than now. That was my thought process and how Jazzspirations became a small business!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?

I can remember growing up how I’d always like to match my hair bows with the holidays and when giving gifts I wanted the gifts to be personal and have a lasting memory with the one receiving the gift. Jazzspirations makes your memories come to life. I am always growing, learning, and trying new ideas. All of my products are personalized to fit the occasion, such as birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, and special holidays. I love to make picture canvases, Bedazzled shoes, tumblers, and wine glasses. I also make shirts, decorative plaques, and tote bags.

What sets me apart from others is me. I make every experience working with me memorable. If it’s something you want and I haven’t made it yet, I will learn how to make it just to see you happy and satisfied.

I got where I am professionally with God, my family and friends, my education and a lot of sleepless nights (Lol). It was not easy at all and if I’m being honest it’s still not easy. There is always something to learn and if you aren’t growing, you aren’t going. I overcome a lot of my challenges through Prayer and good counsel from my parents (my dad is also a business owner), trial and error and by staying focused.

The lessons I’ve learned along the way is that it’s okay to set boundaries even in business. I’ve also learned all money isn’t good money and if it’s meant for you, it’s for you and nobody can have it or stop it.

I want the world to know that I love to create. I love my daughter. She is the light of my life. I love to see people happy and I truly love to see smiles on peoples faces. Jazzspirations does just that and it is a pure joy to see that happen through my crafts. I love God, my family, and my friends.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

So I am a very artsy person so I love going to plays, jazz concerts, and unique museums. I would take them to a play at the Cape Fear Regional Theater. They have some really good plays; the last one I saw was Cinderella. The play was both funny and musically beautiful. We would travel to our state capital which is Raleigh and go to a music festival out there. It’s only about an 1hr and a half away and I don’t mind the travel.

We have an Italian Restaurant in town called Luigi’s that have a live band on certain nights. Did I mention I love music? We would also visit this restaurant called ‘The Friend’s Table’ where the food there is amazing. We would also have to eat at Barbara Ann’s, a tasty soul food restaurant. They have the best fried chicken in town. The Mac and cheese, yams, and baked beans are to die for.

I’d also take them downtown where we would just walk and visit the different shops and restaurants down there and probably even catch a movie at the Cameo Art Theater.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would first like to thank and shoutout God, Who has provided the ideas and the clients for my business. Next I would like give a shoutout to my parents for their never ending support. I promise they really believe I can do anything and that gives me so much courage to go above and beyond. I’d also like to give a shoutout to my brother. He always encourages, send people my way, and give me some ideas for what I can offer. I’d like to thank my best friends/sisters Jelia Coleman and Lisa Ellison. They both are both truthful with me on how an item looks, what I can do to improve it, and the best way to market each new item I introduce. Everyone I’ve given a shoutout to has also purchased items from me not expecting a discount or asking for one (I always look out anyway..lol)! Lastly, I’d like to give a shoutout to everyone that has made a purchase, shared a post on Facebook, given a financial donation, and even sent people my way. I honestly could not have done it without anyone mentioned.
