We had the good fortune of connecting with Jazmine Ricks and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jazmine, alright, let’s jump in with a deep one – what’s you’re definition for success?
Success, to me, is when you have a passion for what you’re doing in the world and it becomes a lovely blend of personal growth, balanced well-being, and a commitment to lifelong learning. It’s rooted in the idea that success is not a destination but an ongoing journey. When I look back, there were many times I did not feel the power of my accomplishments until I really did the inner work to understand myself deeply past the imposter syndrome. I had to learn how to acknowledge my successes, no matter how small they seemed. Now it’s vital to take time to celebrate my milestones and remind myself of the progress I’ve made. As my career blooms, I know that I am finally at a place where my accomplishments and opportunities are a reflection of the life I always dreamed of. It doesn’t stop there, as I’ve only barely tapped the surface of my potential. I trust that there are even more achievements ahead for the many versions of myself that will come as I grow along this journey.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Professionally I’m a creative director and performance artist that is deeply immersed in the world of stroy-telling and creative expression. Through directing concepts, performing and hosting productions, I aim to create spaces where self-expression, empowerment, and creativity can really flourish. I’m currently striving to establish a central creative space that fosters the growth and success of fellow artists and performers. My approach is building a community rooted in compassion and support, and to give others opportunities and resources that aren’t easily accessible.

Outside of these pursuits, you’ll often find me tending to our Mother Earth through regenerative farming. This practice aligns with my belief in the interconnectedness of all life and the importance of nurturing our environment. It’s a labor of love that fills me with gratitude for nature and the lessons it teaches. My journey overall has been one of constant learning and hard work, and I’m profoundly thankful for every step along the way. It’s allowed me to now support others in mentorship in wellness, self-discovery, and the celebration of life.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The Atlanta Arts Community is HUGE. A week long trip wouldn’t be enough to cover of all the greatness our beautiful city has to offer. Catch an opening reception of local artists at galleries such as ABV, FreeMarket, Cat Eye, Whitespace, Mint, Mutiny and so many more! Our comedy scene is also stacked with undeniable amounts of talent, I heavily encourage everyone to catch an open mic night at Laughing Skull, Punchline, or Dad’s Garage. I also recommend catching some live music at venues such as The Earl, 529, Terminal West or The Masquerade. And of course, honorable mention for Red Light as my go to for burlesque acts and cabaret entertainment. (& depending on the night, you just might catch me fire eating on stage at Red Light!)

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My shoutout is hugely dedicated to my magnificent and supportive system of incredible loved ones, family and chosen family, colleagues and mentors who have helped set this beautiful foundation for my creativity to shine. I have endless gratitude to those that have held me accountable, offered guidance and supported my work – that has helped me create my own sacred structure for success. As some say, be the change you want to see in the world, and I am so lucky that everyone apart of my journey (and soon to be apart of) is a reflection of that too.
