We had the good fortune of connecting with Jazmine McClinton and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jazmine, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
One habit that’s been pivotal for me is consistent reflection. I regularly assess what’s working and what’s not, both in my personal and professional life. By taking time to reflect, I’m able to make small but impactful adjustments that keep me on track toward my goals. Another important habit is prioritizing learning. I dedicate time every day to reading, watching YouTube, or engaging with content that expands my knowledge. It keeps me adaptable and fuels creativity. Lastly, staying organized and managing my time well has been crucial. It allows me to focus on high-impact activities rather than just staying busy. Together, these habits help me stay grounded, grow continuously, and make meaningful progress.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets my brand, Bake Addicts, apart is that I don’t follow the rules—at all! I’ve found my own way of doing things, and that’s what makes it fun and unique. While many bakers might stick to traditional methods, I enjoy breaking the mold and creating something unexpected. I don’t like to compare my work to others because I believe comparison is the thief of joy. Instead, I focus on expressing my creativity without limitations, and that’s where the real magic happens. I chose to take an unconventional approach, but staying true to myself made it all worth it. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is to trust my instincts, even when things don’t go as planned. Those moments of uncertainty taught me resilience and helped me grow not just as a baker but as a business owner. I want for other aspiring bakers and cake artists to know that it’s okay to do things your way.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to shoutout my mom for always pushing me to be better in everything that I do. She’s always been my biggest supporter.
