We had the good fortune of connecting with Jazmine Jordan and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jazmine, how does your business help the community or the world?
Health Connect Career Center helps the community by educating and empowering students to enter the world of healthcare as certified nurse assistants. Once our students complete our 17 day Certified Nurse Assistant training, we are instilling skill sets to allow individuals gain employment in the growing healthcare industry. Once employed in the healthcare industry individuals start a rewarding career in the healthcare industry which allows them to make an income while making an impact. We strive to provide knowledge and instill confidence in our students to become leaders in their profession and the world around them while providing safe and quality care. Our Vision is to educate and give entry-level opportunities to as many individuals possible to enter the healthcare profession. We value inspiring, motivating, serving, and educating as many as possible in our community.
Please tell us more about your business. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today business-wise. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
Health Connect Career Center is a Georgia state-approved, certified nurse aide training program. We train and prepare individuals for entry-level jobs in the medical field as CNAs. What makes me so proud and excited about Health Connect is that it’s a young, black female, black-owned business. What I’d like to say about my program is that we don’t just train our students and send them off into the world. We take the time to give them real experience. We encourage, motivate, and inspire our students throughout this certification program. It opens new doors and opportunities for them. With further education, our students can move up the clinical ladder. Health Connect is networking with people in the community and helping them start a new and rewarding career. This journey has not been an easy one, that’s part of what makes it so rewarding. It took a lot of prayer, time, and social isolation to stay focused and goal-oriented about getting the school up and running. I overcame my challenges by praying, keeping the faith, staying consistent, and sticking with my deadlines. The process taught me that anything worth having is worth working for. Patience, trust in God’s timing, and keeping faith over fear are virtues that I am proud to inhabit. What I want to share about my story to the world is that if I, Jazmine Jordan from the east side of Baltimore, a young female who had a dream and vision, overcame every obstacle that was placed my way with little to no resources…well, then so can you, dear reader. The only thing that stops us from moving forward is ourselves. We must get out of our own way to accomplish what we really desire. We must act out of love and abundance, not fear and scarcity. Keep pushing and never give up!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Day 1: To get our bodies active, we would visit Stone Mountain Park and take a nice hike up the trail and enjoy the scenic views Atlanta has to offer. We would then head over Sun Dial Restaurant to enjoy a 360-degree view of Atlanta from 73 stories high. We can enjoy a nice dinner with tasty cocktails. Day 2: Visiting Georgia’s touristy sites. We would visit the Georgia Aquarium and/or Zoo Atlanta. Both are must see/adventures to do. After a day with animals, we would head over to Gio’s Chicken Amalfitano for some authentic Italian food. Day 3: It’s time to get active again. Nice walk/bike ride on the Atlanta Beltline. I’m sure we will work up an appetite so we can stop at many of the restaurants along the path to eat, relax and refuel. Day 4: Visit Ponce City Market for retail shopping, restaurants and drinks. Within Ponce City Market, is a nice rooftop “Skyline Park” where we can find classic carnival type amusements and have loads of fun. Day 5: Can’t visit Atlanta without a historical Martin Luther King tour. We will visit the National Historic Park and the Birth Home of Martin Luther King. Thereafter, we will enjoy an evening of fun and we would head over to Patria Cocina for some Mexican food and great drinks! Day 6: Did someone say Brunch? We will head over to BQE for a nice brunch meal with good vibes and music. It’s Atlanta so the party never ends. We will more than likely end up at Sivas Midtown to enjoy some hookah and more music. Day 7: Sunday Funday at Tiki Tango. That’s all we need and the day will carry on from there. Maybe a massage later that evening to relax from the weeks events!
Alright, so let’s jump right in! The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there a person, group, organization, book, etc that you want to dedicate your shoutout to? Who else deserves a little credit and recognition in your story?
Oh, I’d have to say my parents Eugene and Wendy definitely receive credit and recognition in my journey. My parents have invested so much prayer, time, wisdom, love, support, and perhaps most of all motivation in me throughout my life. My mom first encouraged me to pursue a career in nursing during my Junior year of high school. I took her advice and went for it. It felt right to me. It has been one of the best decisions I ever made. Like the saying , “Momma Knows best”! My mom is also a full-time entrepreneur in the Aesthetic industry. She knows how to take risks and work hard. Growing up watching her build a business from the ground up, and being an overall successful, uplifting woman was so inspiring to me. I’m so grateful to have grown up with such a strong example. I watched her create job opportunities for other women and it has been so motivational for me. Having a mom with a career that serves a purpose and helps others encouraged me to take a risk and do the same. Because of her, I followed my passion and purpose to educate others in the healthcare industry.
