Meet Jazmine Harding | Licensed Nail Technican, Lash Artist & MUA

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jazmine Harding and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jazmine, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
Well I was working a job that I didn’t care for anymore due to what I was experiencing in the workplace. My nail tech at the time(Jamila owner of Her House of Beauty) suggested that I take her nail class and become my own boss again. We would talk every nail appointment and she asked me what was I going to call my business and I told her I Do For You, because the traditional nail salons say that all the time and they don’t do for me. From that I Do For You By Jaz was born
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I’m a Mom, wife, Licensed Nail tech, lash tech, self taught mua, former paraplegic and a cali native. I started my business in June of 2020 during the middle of the pandemic(I know crazy) I was ready for more out of life and being able to have more time for myself and my family was on the top of my list.
I’m most proud of that I did it by myself going to school and becoming licensed when I wanted to give up cause I was exhausted cause I worked late the night before or knowing I had a 2hr commute round trip just to go to school and having that feeling of just wanting to quit cause I was overwhelmed and no one believed I could do it.
I’m apart of Her House of Beauty in Waldorf, MD where we offer a variety of services from nails, lashes, teeth whitening, waxing, facials, body contouring and have services constantly being added. At I Do For You By Jaz I do lashes, offer makeup classes, waterless pedicures and acrylic nails.
What sets me apart would be my customer service, the will to Persevere, my energy and how i encourage my clients to be the best and to go after what makes them happy and to not settle. I can’t wait to tell my story to inspire others to show and tell them that no matter what you’ve been through or where you started that it’s never too late to chase that dream or that passion
Getting to where I am now in my business was hard because no one in my family supported what I was doing and especially in the black family that I came from where your told if you don’t have a degree then your not really doing anything and what I was doing was just a hobby or for fun. I had to use that as fuel to fire me up. I had to really focus to perfect my craft, practice my craft and not being afraid to ask for help. It took a lot of praying, manifesting and me just sitting in my reality to overcome a lot of the ups and downs that comes with being an entrepreneur and being your own boss.
Best lesson I learned from all of this is don’t expect family or people close to you to support you or your business cause 9/10 times their not. That everyone doesn’t want the best for you or your business the people closest to you will be your biggest haters. It’s never too late to find what your passion is and do it, never let anyone tell you what your success is supposed to look like when your path is already set
My goal is to help other women become entrepreneurs and to take that leap and truly investment in themselves
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My friends know I don’t go out cause I’m either in work mode or mom mode plus I’m still figuring out the DMV Area. But I would go to a few spots like Eddie Vs, Hot and Juicy, Crab boss – Brandywine/DC Smokers delight – White plains Tubbys Kitchen – Private Traveling Chef (she brings the food and the drinks to you)
The Bayou Girl Drink Factory – LaPlata, MD
La Sierra – Waldorf
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give a huge shoutout to her because Without my nail tech, mentor and now friend Jamila Idris I Do For You By Jaz would not be possible.
I want to shoutout my husband Durell for helping to fund my business when I started up and for paying the balance of my class as a Mother’s Day gift and for holding it down while I was in nail school
My daughter Kennedy cause this is who I do it for. All the early mornings and late nights when I would have to work and sacrifice having that time with her. She’s the true MVP and I hope she sees not to ever let anyone limit what you can do and how to be successful.
most importantly my clients. I love them so much. Without them there is no I Do For You. Thank you guys for constantly supporting me, investing in me and being apart of my journey..
But I give it to God cause without him none of this would be possible
