We had the good fortune of connecting with Jayniece Manning and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jayniece, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?

In NYC,there’s a drink called the nutcracker. You were bound to hear someone shouting “nutcrackers, nutcrackers 1 for $5 2 for $10 “ It was a drink concoction consisting of different alcohols and fruit juice. I kind of got tired of going to NYC just to get one. My family moved to Jersey before I was born but we were very close to the city. A train ride there and back was exhausting.

In 2013, my school was having their annual spring fest. Meek Mill was headlining and I saw that as an opportunity to sell my drinks. The rest is history. I took a trip all the way to the Bronx just to get the bottles. I purchased all the ingredients and made the drinks at my older brother’s friend’s house.I would occasionally sell them to my friends and pull up to an event with either a cooler or an insulated bag.

I was always known as the friend who made the jungle juice, a rum punch or jello shots. I was a bartender in the making and I didn’t even realize it at the time. In 2018,I took it more seriously, created a name, played around with different logos and created what I now call Juici Jrinks. Juicy with an I and Drinks with a J. I wanted to do what no one else was doing at that time. We didn’t have many ‘dealers’ selling nutcrackers. So I created a bougie one.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As an entrepreneur, I have my hand in many different pots. I have a few upcoming projects that I’m excited about. It’s not easy juggling all of them. My biggest challenge is time management. Setting aside time to take care of business and to take care of myself. Building a team is so crucial to your success and delegating some tasks to others so you can truly focus on being creative.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m still pretty new to the city myself and I barely know where I live most of the time. I love to create itineraries so the first day would like:

9 am- Gym or Hike

1pm brunch at Ebb & Flow

3pm Shopping and a drive downtown

6pm Pangea’s for dinner

8 pm Rum Punch and listen to chunes at Hero’s Lounge.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to send a special shoutout to all of my supporters. I couldn’t do it without all of your love and support.I want to shoutout my support system, Tiger, Alex, Mimi, Chanel,Nicole.
