Hi Jayla, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
The genesis of my entrepreneurial venture was rooted in a desire to make a meaningful impact on the lives of others. Growing up in an environment where my parents established a highly successful multi-million dollar real estate firm, I witnessed firsthand the transformative power of their work on their clients. This upbringing instilled in me a deep sense of purpose and a drive to follow in their footsteps.

In the year 2020, while I was a freshman in college, a pivotal moment occurred that served as a catalyst for my journey. Eager to embark on my own investment path, I set my sights on accumulating enough capital for a down payment on an investment property, with the intention of securing an investment loan from a bank. However, this initial enthusiasm was met with a stark reality check. The financial institution I approached was not inclined to support my “modest” investment aspirations, leaving me disheartened and perplexed.

By the following year, 2021, I had managed to save approximately $10,000 and realized that I needed a strategic plan to advance to the next level. It was during this critical juncture that I made the decision to enlist the guidance of a seasoned business coach. Through this mentoring relationship, I not only gained invaluable insights but also achieved a significant milestone – becoming a licensed real estate agent by the age of 20. This newfound qualification empowered me to take the crucial step of purchasing my first investment property.

The process of acquiring my inaugural off-market property was not without its share of challenges. In fact, I made several costly mistakes along the way. However, I recognized the profound importance of documenting these missteps and lessons learned to serve as a guide for others on a similar journey. My mission was clear: I aspired to inspire young individuals like myself by demonstrating that if a 20-year-old could successfully invest in real estate, they could too.

Moreover, my aim extended beyond mere inspiration. I was determined to spare aspiring investors from the expensive and time-consuming pitfalls I had encountered. It was with this vision in mind that I crafted the comprehensive course titled “8 Steps to Avoid: When Finding Off Market Properties.” This course is designed to provide aspiring investors with a roadmap to navigate the intricate world of off-market properties while circumventing the potential setbacks and financial burdens that often accompany such endeavors.

In essence, my business journey is fueled by a deep-seated desire to pay forward the wisdom and experiences I’ve gained, ensuring that the next generation of real estate enthusiasts can embark on their investment journeys with confidence, knowledge, and the tools needed to succeed.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

I adhere to the guiding principle that “nothing in life worth having comes easy” My personal journey has been marked by numerous setbacks, outweighing the victories. Nonetheless, these failures have served as invaluable stepping stones, enhancing the sweetness of eventual success.

The overarching mission of both my business and my life is to empower individuals to become the best versions of themselves. While my course, “8 Steps to Avoid: When Finding Off Market Properties,” represents a significant milestone in my career, it is merely one facet of my broader aspirations. Drawing upon my background as a finance major and my extensive business experience, I am committed to assisting others in reaching their full potential.

Transparency is a core value that I hold dear. This is evident in my candid approach on social media, where I openly share the highs, lows, and challenges of my personal journey. In today’s world, there is a prevailing belief that success is easily attainable, perpetuated by the narratives we encounter daily. However, my mission is to dispel this notion and demonstrate that I, too, face moments of struggle and make mistakes. I aim to convey that the true essence of success lies in the resilience to rise again, regardless of the adversity faced.

While my course serves as a valuable tool to initiate individuals into the realm of investing, my commitment to transparency underscores the fact that success is not a linear path. I have evolved into a solutions-oriented individual and am resolute in my dedication to being a part of the solution. I take immense pride in providing scholarships to aspiring college students and sponsoring scholars to attend events such as the Dinner at Dusk Polo Classic, where they were able to connect with accomplished professionals. At the heart of my business is the unwavering commitment to inspire others to overcome procrastination and equip them with the necessary tools to pursue their dreams diligently.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
While I tend to find comfort in the familiarity of my home, I derive immense pleasure from exploring various locales along the BeltLine. An irresistible treat that I wholeheartedly recommend is Jeni’s ice cream, and I particularly urge you to savor a scoop or two of their delectable Bramble Berry flavor. My passion for food leads me to suggest dining experiences at Chattahoochee Food Works, Krog Street, and People’s Town Coffee Shop, all conveniently situated along the BeltLine, providing not only culinary delights but also ample opportunities for leisurely walks.

Additionally, I find solace and enjoyment in the serene environs of Piedmont Park and the scenic vistas offered by Morgan Falls Overlook Park.

My network of support is truly exceptional, and I am profoundly grateful for the individuals who have played pivotal roles in shaping my journey. I want to extend my heartfelt appreciation to my parents, James and Kenisha Martin, whose entrepreneurial spirit and unwavering dedication have been instrumental in shaping the person I have become. Witnessing their tireless efforts in building their own enterprise from the ground up has been an invaluable source of inspiration. They have not only imparted their wisdom but have also generously provided me with the intellectual foundation necessary for my success.

I am also indebted to my God-Mother, Torrey Rives, and my boyfriend, Coby Bennett, for their steadfast support during the highs and lows of my journey. Their unwavering presence during the emotional roller coasters and financial challenges has been a source of strength and encouragement.

Acknowledgment is also due to my mentors, Natasha Donerson and Maja Sly, both of whom have invested considerable time and effort in guiding me towards my goals.
