We had the good fortune of connecting with Jayde Moore and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jayde, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process for starting my own business was thinking about how I could bridge the gap between my passion/creativity and finding a way to share that with the world. I wanted to also prove to myself and my peers that you can bring something as simple as a thought or idea into reality. It’s all about your perspective and willingness to stay focused on your vision, no matter the outcome. I believe the journey as a whole when it comes to starting and running my own business really molded me into the person I am today. You learn a lot about yourself and the extent to which you’re willing to go for your business or just in general. Running a business taught me boundaries, especially as a woman in this industry. I make sure I have the needed background knowledge and skills in order to navigate in the right direction and network with the right people.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I own a clothing brand called Ragged Rage @raggedragellc, I’m a Stylist, Creative Director, and also Model so I’m pretty multifaceted. I started Ragged Rage in 2020 during the pandemic, which might have sounded crazy but at the time it was already an idea I had back in 2019 and I didn’t want to completely abandon it so I continued to try and register my business and obtain my LLC. I got my LLC in July 2020 & once I did that I was super proud of myself because I was also doing summer school and finishing my senior year of college. They had just transitioned everything to virtual that year so that made things way harder for me. My job had also laid me off a few months prior because of the pandemic and I ended up homeless the whole month of August 2020. That discouraged me a lot but I kept myself focused on my goals and passion despite my circumstances. A few months later I ended up launching Ragged Rage, got my first apartment, and got my bachelor’s degree. I had such a tough year but still ended up accomplishing what I had set for myself by the end of it. Once I got to 2021 I started to dabble into my other passions like styling and creative direction so I took a year off from Ragged Rage to figure out if it was something I truly wanted to pursue. Throughout that whole year, I was traveling and networking with other creatives and got to make so many dope connections. Fast forward to today, I had realized my clothing brand was definitely something I wanted to still pursue. I can attend to all my creative passions and still be successful. I just used to think I couldn’t be all these great things at once, I was taught you had to stick to one thing and that’s it. But no, you can be multifaceted and a jack of all trades, and that’s what I want the world to know me as. I have the word Gifted tattoed on my right hand and I plan to share with the world, my gifts.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting the area or I would definitely take them to all the thrift spots in the city. I can’t give away all my spots but of course, we will be hitting up Goodwill and probably Rag-o-Rama. Then we would grab some boba and food at Tin Drum Kitchen. Later that night if we were up to even leave the house because we’re homebodies, we’d probably go to Traffik and get some drinks and listen to my fav DJ Genesis.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to dedicate this shoutout to my family, close friends, & my boyfriend. I am really so blessed to have such a huge support team when it comes to those I’m around every day. Any idea I’ve ever had they’d always be there to uplift me and motivate me to do it. When I started Ragged Rage my sister Sabria was totally down to invest in the idea so I want to personally thank her because she gave me the funds to really kick start everything. My best friends and family were the first to also purchase from me so shout out to them, they know who they are!
