We had the good fortune of connecting with Jay Green and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jay, the decisions we make often shape our story in profound ways. What was one of the most difficult decisions you’ve had to make?
The most difficult decision for me was moving from my hometown to grow as an artist, I am originally from Hampton, South Carolina. There is no scene there and wanting to be able to do a different style of music outside of what a lot of people listen in your hometown it’s hard, So I decided to move to Atlanta, Georgia and started going out and supporting the local community and from there I started to grow as a creator and artist and it all started with going out and supporting others.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art is something that for sure didn’t happen overnight, I have been working on my art since late 2016, It was for sure not easy, I taught myself a lot of what I know now on the production side and some help from others. The exciting thing about coming up in the music scene and producing is being able to play my music live for others and sharing my craft and talent on stage. I face some of the biggest challenges as an artist like wanting to give up at hard times because I wasn’t getting no plays or attraction and felt like I was loosing support, But a few years ago I did give up and started to rebrand after some deep thinking. I don’t have a main genre I produce on how I feel and most of the time its a mix of trap and dubstep but sometimes I will make house or drum and bass. I don’t like putting myself in one genre its no challenge. I have learned no matter how hard it gets, It’s all worth it.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Little Five Points, The Belt Line, Fourth Ward these was also the areas I visited when I first moved to Atlanta, Georgia. I am a big fan of art and they are a few amazing art galleries in the city and activities and food I want to say the rooftop of Ponce City Market. It has one amazing view and the food is great! Also can’t forget Six Flags if your wanting to go to a theme park.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I wanted to give a few big shoutouts the first one is from the guy who got me into music during my high school days from 2010 which he went by the name “Arion” at the time, I started digging into different sub genres of electronic music after I discovered a few tracks of his and till this day I finally got to talk to Arion and his story as an artist a few years ago, I want to thank a few more people who became family to me over the years of my project and has always been there, Cherry Self, Yanna Smith, Sebastian Farr, Zola Self, Preston Cannone, Brandon Higgins, Mikes Revenge, StayTru, and more.
