We had the good fortune of connecting with Jay Bandy and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jay, what do you attribute your success to?
Determination. The ability to keep to a plan and see it through is the key the success of Goliath. It also is an important trait to have in years like 2020 where it’s been tough going for many businesses. When you get to the wall – do you get a ladder, go around it or knock it down? And then you keep going.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Goliath Consulting Group works with independent restaurant operators as well as chains and franchised brands. Our niche is the variety of services we offer from new restaurant development to helping restaurants improve profitability to management services. We recently launched a pizza business consulting division in partnership with Alessio Lacco.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’ve lived in Atlanta on and off since 1986 and have some favorite haunts old and new. For many years, I lived in Ansley and close to Piedmont Park. Piedmont Park is one of the city’s treasures. The corridor of Peachtree St. from Brookwood to North Avenue is my favorite area in the city. Next is Ponce City Market along the beltline to Krog Street market. For dining, its a trip to Sotto Sotto for dinner. Other longtime favorites include Ecco in midtown and Storico Fresco in Buckhead. Mercedes Benz stadium and a Falcons game would cap off a memorable fall weekend.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The opportunities to grow and prosper started for me at the University of Louisville. It was the relationships I developed there at the TKE fraternity house, with professors, the administration and student organizations that helped me develop some of the foundational skills that I use today. I learned as much or more from building those relationships as I did from the classroom.
