Meet Javia Belton | Actress, Model, and Screenwriter

We had the good fortune of connecting with Javia Belton and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Javia, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
Quite honestly, I’m still in the process of figuring it out. I feel like most creatives have days where they think it’s time to throw in the towel whenever things aren’t going as planned. But we also have days where you get such a good streak of opportunity and achievement that it motivates you to want more. Comparison is one of those big factors that halts my ability to just keep going. Sometimes I look at those around me who have more notoriety or support than I do and feel inadequate. I’ve been doing a great job though recently with realizing that my path won’t be the same as the next person and what God has set for me, only I can get in the way of it.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Recently, I graduated Cum Laude with a bachelors in Theater Performance and Psychology. Achieving that held my attention for a pretty long time but I was still racking up credits along the way. I remember during Covid when everything was online, I would be on set with my musical theater teacher on zoom in my pocket. Within this year I began working on my modeling portfolio. I’ve done a few photoshoots and now I’m trying to transition into runway. And I just landed a commercial for a pretty big retail brand so I’m super excited to see that be released. I also am in production for a short film right now and have another one coming out by the end of this month. And of course like every actor I’ve been consistently in acting classes working on my craft to improve my abilities.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Stone mountain is incredibly beautiful and insanely peaceful in the early mornings before too many people get there, so I think it’d be crazy not to let that be the kickoff. Funny enough, I just had a weekend trip with my best friend, and I have to say one of the biggest highlights was getting a Korean fried corndog from “Oh K-Dog” in Doraville. I got the potato mozza dog and I bought more than I could eat, it was just so satisfying. My friend and I also visited a super dope thrift store called Rag-O-Rama recently and I will definitely be frequenting them more in the near future. I went to the Fox Theater in 8th grade for Wicked which was my first off-Broadway show and has a lot to do with why I’m an actor today. So, I’d add catching a show to the list for sure. I’d probably also drag my friend to go with me to places I haven’t been before but desperately want to experience like the Fashion museum and the botanical gardens.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have an incredibly small circle, though purposefully because the only energy I want around me is that which can uplift and motivate me. My family have been extremely supportive with my exploration in the entertainment industry. Especially with the fact that I’m the only one in my family in entertainment so most times they have no idea what’s going on but they’re always happy for me. My mother deserves her own special shoutout because she has literally saved my life and I’m forever indebted to her for that. She’s always there when I need her and gives me the hope to continue on this journey.
