We had the good fortune of connecting with Jason Brooks and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jason, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
As a father, you always want to give your family an even better life than what you’ve had. I came up with the idea that would become VendDaddy after researching side hustles and realizing that vending machines could be a way to create passive income. I immediately discussed the idea with my wife and we decided to move forward with this plan.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Hello, my name is Jason Brooks and I’m the owner/operator of VendDaddy Inc. We are a family-owned vending company with several locations spread across 5 cities and 2 states. We manage our business using the latest technology and accept credit, debit and cash at all our locations with crypto payments coming soon.
Last year, I was able to quit my job and support my family with my vending business. Owning my own business that provides passive income allows me to spend quality time with my family and provide them with the opportunity to own their own business in the future.
In the beginning, I thought I would fail horribly. People should understand that vending machines can cost thousands of dollars and one wrong location can end your business. There’s a lot on the line in this business and if you have a family like me, you can’t afford mistakes.
I started my vending business right before the pandemic hit the world. As the world faced massive shut downs, I had a choice to make; shut down or keep going. I saw other vending businesses selling locations as offices closed never to reopen. Friends and family members even urged me to shut down my business and get a job because the vending industry was over.
I bet on myself and it paid off.
I’ve learned that if you want success you must bet on yourself. Surround yourself with people that inspire you and are further along than yourself. When people are cautious, move in boldly and when people are bold, be cautious. These are crucial lessons for becoming successful.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was to visit the area I would take them to several locations in ATLANTA, GA. For breakfast, we would go to the exclusive networking hub in the city called The Gathering Spot. We could enjoy mimosas while meeting some of the young professionals making moves in the ATL. Next, we would visit the High Museum and check out some art exhibits by some of the most talented artists in the world. Lunch break would bring us to The Bando restaurant for their signature “Crack Wings” and 90’s trap decor. After lunch, we have to hit Cultural Experience ATL, one of the best places to showcase that outfit or flex for Instagram. Near the evening we can enjoy views of nature at the Westside Park before grabbing dinner at Lily’s Restaurant and Lounge. Before we turn in for the night, it wouldn’t be ATLANTA without hitting up a club like Eleven.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Huge thank you to God, my supportive wife Alexis that beloved in us, my children and family members. I’d like to shout out people like Marcus Gram (@brothergram), Quinn Miller (quinnjmiller) and Earn Your Leisure podcast for supporting me on my journey. Without your mentorship, I wouldn’t be here to hopefully do for the next entrepreneur what you’ve done for me. I’d also like to thank everyone who supports me on and off social media.
