We had the good fortune of connecting with Jason Ansley and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jason, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Taking risks is not only something done in the art world, it is a characteristic that I try to embrace with a smart, open mind. I told myself “no risks, no rewards” when I started in this tattoo business and try to live by it as well.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Bold and Custom. Having a background in graphic design, my artwork strives to show the viewer something that will boldly communicate the customers interests and presenting something custom for the client.
Being able to succeed in the tattoo industry/trade is something that not everyone can easily pick up, study, and do.
Understanding respect for the industry, knowledge of the craft and its predecessors, showing the ability to take constructive criticism, and many other trade secrets are qualities that I try to follow through and uphold with great effort.
I have learned in this industry and along with life that you should never be taken advantage of, you should speak up for yourself, and in order to get respect you must give respect.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
It really doesnt have to be a certain spot in Atlanta to make a friend have the best time. I would say as long as there are lemon-pepper wings, good atmosphere, and some music I would say that would be the best
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Being able to tattoo in a calm and fun working environment is something that needs to be recognized and I could not be happier at my stage of my career at Now or Never Tattoo Studio in Conyers, GA. Chris Huff and Jason Overby have showed the utmost respect and encouragement in my life and my career.
