We had the good fortune of connecting with Jasmine Stokes and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jasmine, what role has risk played in your life or career?
When I think of taking risks, I immediately hear leap of faith. Life is all about “the next jump”. The bigger the risk the bigger the reward is what I’ve been told and even come to realize. I took my biggest leap in 2015. At the time, I was in prayer regarding a major move in life. That move was my “Yes” to God’s will for me. I had been in the driver seat and was ready to surrender and hop over in the passenger seat. You see, what I was doing, just wasn’t working. I was getting temporary wins, mediocre peace and kept ending up with the same result of just a little bit. I wanted more, I wanted bigger, I wanted what God had for me and nothing less. I said Yes and now this wasn’t easy and that “Yes” meant “no” to things and people I really wanted. That yes meant a period of solitude and loneliness for my purpose to be revealed. I said Yes to God’s will and that to me was the biggest, most impactful risk/leap I’d ever make in my life. Taking this leap in January of 2015 led to a huge move in my career. The company I worked for at the time relocated me to a city I knew nothing about. Now, I agreed to the relocation and while nervous I was very excited and ready for what the “leap” would bring. Unbeknownst to me, this move brought my now husband two months after agreeing to the relocation. It brought a huge climb in the corporate ladder and salary scale, it brought my bonus daughter, a solid family foundation, my son, my peace, my joy, my confidence and my business. After taking this leap, while I still side eye my next leap, Iol, I’m way more positive and quicker to jump because of what my one leap brought me. When you play small, meaning you overthink everything, are afraid of being uncomfortable and are comfortable being stagnant, you will get small results. You’ll always feel like it’s more to life and more in life. If you decide to play big, meaning you pray first, get the release from God and just go for it, I promise, nothing can be compared to what you will receive and experience along the way to your big payout. I’m reminded daily of what taking the risk/leap did for me. I remember before I told my job yes, I’d relocate, I told myself, well if it doesn’t work, you can always come back here. I think that’s something we all need to do with ourselves, be honest and even look at the full picture. Ask the question, “if I do this, what’s the worst that could happen and what’s the best?” The best will outweigh the worst and you owe it to yourself to at least try. When you think of a risk, think of the old lady in Coming to America “Go ahead honey, take a chance”!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The Greater Me Consulting is a Coaching and Consulting business for women. The sole purpose is to empower women to their next level in life, their greater level through Life Coaching. At the Greater Me Consulting, I teach women how to not only survive in their life journey but to thrive. I offer products geared towards confidence, empowerment and self-healing. The Consulting portion of the business just launched The Empower You Academy. Here, I offer affordable online courses, webinars, and training certifications to allow women to better themselves in business and entrepreneurship. The biggest challenge I’ve faced with starting my own business was understanding it is mine. I’ve been in Corporate America for over 15 years (I am still a Corporate Bae) and I was so conformed to doing everything “someone else’s” way. It was a daily struggle when I would look at brand colors, marketing or even slogans. I kept thinking it had to be so “politically correct” and this isn’t the case. I’m the boss, I decide what I want/need, I get to tailor it all to me, my personality and how I want women to feel when they first see or engage with my company. I had a serious pep talk with myself and released that energy and hold that had me. I want women to know and feel encouraged to be them, love them and most importantly Choose Them! My biggest message is titled “I Choose Me” and it’s a daily affirmation and lifestyle we all have to get accustomed to saying and living. It runs deeper than the outer appearance and it’s more than just a catchy slogan. I’m choosing myself still in so many areas but until I Chose Me, this business I’m running couldn’t. The life I’m living couldn’t choose me until I knew I was comfortable being me and I made no excuses about who I am, what I like and what I do.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
So, as you’ve read I’m a Nashville, TN implant. lol. I’m originally from Chicago, Il. If I had to give someone a tour of what I know in Nashville, we would definitely grab a bite to eat at Hattie B’s for famous Hot Chicken, we’d shop at Opryland Mall, even stay at the hotel for a nice spa day, we definitely would have to see the nightlife of honky tonk in downtown Nashville and we’d close the evening out at the rooftop of the Omni Hotel.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First, I’d like to Thank God for choosing me and never leaving me! Second, I’d like to thank my husband for being by my side, encouraging me and loving me always. Next, I’d like to thank my parents for a foundation of unconditional love and prayer. My children for inspiring me and pushing me along the way.
