We had the good fortune of connecting with Jasmine Small and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jasmine, what do you want your legacy to be?
Legacy is considered to be “the richness of the individual’s life,” I believe a legacy is created through accomplishments and the impact on one has had on other people and places.
With this being said, I want my legacy to be one of passion and authenticity. I want my legacy to sustain my ethic of hard work and have an impact on generations to come after me. I want it to inspire those who have been through their own trials and tribulations to continue to go after their passion. I tend to believe many people strive to achieve and understand their meaning in life with their passions as “guides” to find this meaning. I have always believed in going after your passions and never giving up on them. Through this you find your authentic self and become one spiritually, mentally, physically and emotionally. I want people to remember this about me and themselves.
To create a legacy, in itself, is a honor. Wether I inspire one person or society as a whole is not the quest because inspiring one person alone is purposeful. What I strive for in creating my legacy is strength and endurance. It is strength from within that provides the endurance to face obstacles faced when attempting to go after your passion. It is said by many it is not an easy task to be successful in your work but the reward is everlasting and priceless. The difficulties one may face is why I want my legacy to inspire because it would show how hard work pays off. Passion and authenticity are important to me because they create and are of a whole being. To be the best you can be includes being true to you! If you are following your passions and remaining authentic, it would be difficult to give up and there’d be a want to work hard. All in all, I want my legacy to be sustained and meaningful, defining of the world from my lens.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As a young professional I am thrilled to be involved in my passions. Starting a business, completing a PhD program and being a content creator is my life at this point and I would not trade it for anything. I’ve gotten to this point by maintaining good grades in my academic career, studying hard and staying focused. It was not an easy path by any means and I faced many obstacles. I overcame these obstacles by maintaining faith and focusing on my goals. Through these ideals I have been able to maintain strength. I simply want to inspire others through my work and talents.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I enjoy eating so if my best friend were to come in town the first place we’d go is to Lily’s. We’d then enjoy spending quality time at the Atlanta Selfie Museum or maybe even go shopping at Perimeter. The next day we have to get our nails done at Piedmont Nail Bar in Peachtree Corners. I take a fill-in for extra long nails and a pedi! I enjoy living in Atlanta, one of the best things to enjoy is the social life it offers.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I dedicate this shoutout in memory of my mother. She passed away in 2017 and I think about her daily. I believe she would be proud of my progress and growth. She was always encouraging and loved to see me succeed. I believe she is watching over me and is still encouraging me to continue through life with passion.
