We had the good fortune of connecting with Jasmine Ng and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jasmine, what do you attribute your success to?
God, family, community. This has been the recipe to my success. I understand that success can mean different things to everyone but to me having these three in my life have been a strong foundation. Running a cake business has many ups and downs so my faith has been one of the things that has kept me from quitting on so many occasions.. Having the support of my family has made me realize that you can’t do it alone. and this means the world to me. Lastly my community ,built of other cake sissies and event planners. I am a strong believer in “Community over competition”. The fact that you can call another cake sis or event planner friend for advice when you need a helping hand without having to worry about competition is such a relief. I have met so many life long friends because of this.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I love when I’m given the privilege to be part of someone’s celebration. Celebrations create memories, so being part of this brings me joy. I feel that what sets me apart is the attention to detail. That is why I ask the client a lot of questions and I take the time to research their event or theme to make sure that I capture their vision. I am most proud of the fact that the feedback I receive is not only that the cake design is beautiful but that the cake also taste delicious. This means a lot to me because I want the overall experience to be amazing. I have been making cakes for over 20 years now. I am mostly self taught but I have also invested in many professional classes to ensure that I learn the most current cake decorating techniques and so I can provide many design variations to my clients. Although this cake journey has not always been easy, I have learned to also embrace the failures. I’ve actually learned more from things not going right that when everything works out the way I want it to. I would love the world to know that I pour my heart into every edible creation I make so that my clients can enjoy their cake vision come to life.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Ok, so I forgot to mention that I also have a 3 year old daughter so I don’t get out much..lol.. We’ve also been in GA for only 7 months now and with this covid situation we really have not been able to explore Atlanta. I am so looking forward to this summer. I will say that I am grateful to Shanice Evans from Party Mavens who introduced me to Alencia Knight from K Fab Creations who happens to live here .. Alencia has been the sweetest and most welcoming.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My cake journey began in 2000 when my oldest daughter was born with low muscle tone and I had to stay home with her so that she could undergo therapy for 3 yrs. I was looking for a creative outlet and I started decorating her birthday cakes and cakes for family and friends. I really enjoyed it even though I wasn’t really good at the time lol Shortly after we had to moved to Fl and I took a little break from it. In 2013, my husbands work moved us again but now to NC. There I met Phone (pronounced PONE) Winstead from “My Two Sweetie Pies” who makes beautiful cake creations. I reached out to her and asked if she would teach me how to make cake pops and to my surprise she said yes. She has really been a true inspiration in my cake journey and has also become a life long friend. We still communicate even though we don’t live near each other anymore.
