We had the good fortune of connecting with Jasmine Mapp and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jasmine, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My motivation for starting Planty Vibes ATL was driven by a desire to spread love through health-conscious foods. I’ve always dreamed of owning a business, and this was an opportunity to align my passion with serving my community. It’s about the journey and having a clear sense of purpose. I’ve always been service-oriented, so when the time came to launch my concept, after years of planning, I didn’t hesitate. Planty Vibes ATL is where real love and real food meet.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I stand out in a few key ways: Firstly, I’m proud of the community-centric approach of Planty Vibes ATL. We prioritize local and healthy food options. Our commitment to keeping love at the core of our business along with outstanding service sets us apart.

Planty Vibes ATL is still in its infancy as a brand-new business. The journey to where I am today in my business wasn’t easy & I faced many challenges. To overcome them, I learned to adapt and stay persistent. I surrounded myself with a supportive network of people and continuously sought knowledge and skills to navigate obstacles.

Starting a business is no easy feat. As a business owner who started from ground zero with no help, no guidance, and no foundational knowledge of entrepreneurship; I knew walking into this journey that there would be continuous learning curves along the way. The resting fears and worries did not and will not stop me from acting on my potential and reaching my business goals.

The lessons I’ve learned include the importance of resilience, adaptability, consistency, and the value of continuous learning. I’ve also realized the significance of community support and networking in building a successful business.

My brand, Planty Vibes ATL, is a reflection of my commitment to providing accessible, healthy, and locally sourced food to our community through the convenience of meal prep. I want the world to know that my story is one of passion, determination, a desire to make a positive impact, and my deep love of health-conscious foods.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Atlanta is a vibrant city known for its food culture, and as a chef, I enjoy exploring the local dining scene. The Beltline is a must-visit, offering beautiful city views, green spaces, and Atlanta’s street art. Along this path, you can discover unique food options like Planta; a 100% vegan kitchen. The Salty, which is perfect for satisfying your sweet tooth. Krog Street Market is home to one of my favorites, ‘Jai-Ho,’ they offer Indian cuisine and I often choose their vegan dishes. Another gem in Atlanta is the Historic West End, less frequented but worth the visit. Boxcar, located off the Westside Trail, offers exceptional customer service and a diverse menu in a visually pleasing setting. For brunch in Reynoldstown, Ria’s Bluebird is my top choice. Ria’s is my golden go-to. If you’re interested in being amongst the outdoors, there are scenic spots just outside the city, such as Roswell Mills, Cochran Mills, and Rottenwood Creek Trail, among others.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Over the course of time, I’ve encountered various ways in which I stifled my innate gifts and intuition, both of which were endeavoring to steer me toward my authentic entrepreneurial path. There were instances when it seemed like I lacked outlets or reliable sources for inner tranquility. What I needed wasn’t just a course correction; it was a genuine belief in myself. My commitment to expanding my mindset and acquiring knowledge led me to immerse myself in reading. A pivotal tool that has significantly aided me on this journey is my collection of self-help books. I want to extend my appreciation and my shout-out to “The Power of Now” by Eckhart Tolle. This book not only guided me to discover the mental serenity I sought but also imparted the crucial lesson that overthinking can restrict one’s potential, emphasizing the importance of seizing the present moment to pursue one’s dreams.
