We had the good fortune of connecting with Jasmine Kendrick and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jasmine, what’s the end goal, career-wise?
The end goal is to be doing music full time, to write, record, and to perform.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have been singing and performing since the age of 9 I started taking music seriously at the age of 13 when I was in my first music group which we eventually separated about 5 years later.. It was very hard for me to branch off into my own being that I was very dependable on what used to be I couldn’t shake the fact that if I wanted to continue to do music that I would be doing it on my own with the support of family and friends I was able to get out of my head about what used to be and became comfortable with being alone and remembering that music is my passion and at the end of the day I’m doing this for myself. I’ve learned over the years that if you want something done you have to do it yourself no matter what people say or what they may think of you, you have to focus on the bigger picture and stay passionate.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Honestly anywhere in Atlanta is a vibe, it’s not where you are it’s who you’re with and what you make it.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to make a shout out to my dad who is my number one supporter, he has always been by my side and he’s never doubted me in what I believe.
