Meet Jasmine Hill-Carter | Fashion & Image Specialist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jasmine Hill-Carter and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jasmine, what’s the most difficult decision you’ve ever had to make?
The most difficult decision I had to make was leaving a fashion corporate which came with a steady paycheck and stepping out on faith to work for myself.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Honestly, I feel as if I’m starting over. My past success doesn’t not define where I’m at now. I can say, I still have an audience but that comes with putting myself out there. However, that’s with a big or small audience. Since I paused my brands to work in fashion corporate which was not the best experience, entering back into the entrepreneur world in 2025 is not the same when I did this in 2018. This time around, I have to be strategic and mindful of every step I take.
There have been so many lessons I have learned along the way.
1: Surface level connections do not have to be friendships.
2: Everything in this world is about reciprocating whether you realize it or not.
3: Be intentional about your “Yes”. You cannot attach your brand and yourself with just anything or anyone.
4: No is a complete sentence.
5; Exposure is not a form of payment.
When I first launched Closet of Royalé back in 2016, I launched for a college project. I also wanted to have basic clothes to style with the accessories from Velz Monroe.
At the time, I was dealing with a lot and could not manage school, and two businesses. I was only 21. Then I tried to relaunch it again in 2018 as a magazine but the success from Velz Monroe, was high and that was a lot to manage for me too.
Relaunch Closet of Royalé with a Black Culture theme & message behind it really changed the game for me. It’s opening up avenues that I always wanted to explore. Closet of Royalé if for the culture and is the culture.
The pieces I hand pick makes our customers feel as one with who they are at their core. Whether that’s the culture they grew up around, the nostalgia vibes, or who they identify as. I have so many options to provide my customers who want quality items without putting a dent in their bank account.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my bestfriend was in town to visit, I would cook at home for her. Restaurants are not the best way to connect to me. I would decorate and do a table spread. Most likely, we would cook together.
We would most definitely go to a few museums and probably leave the city and just explore different cities.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
