Meet Jasmine Gardner | Photographer & UX Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jasmine Gardner and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jasmine, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
My first introduction to digital arts & media was sometime in high school. I went on to pursue a plethora of skill based opportunities and a career in social work. By the time I picked up a camera again, relationships, family, and work life balance were a hassle & freedom of expression or photography became my “project peace”.

I bought my first Canon Powershot & aimed it at myself primarily. I started off as a self shooter because I was afraid to break out and seek models. So, I was my first model. Through that period of self discovery, I learned how to work on my skills through trial and error.

As time grew, I then began to work fashion events, book with published models, weddings and still photography for a Tubi film.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
KLICK STUDIOS is an emerging Production & Media/Content powerhouse. Klick is a workspace that offers resources to the creative public, in need of photography, videography, editing & production software, venue rental, and other materials that allow for production and content creation.

I have accepted role as UX Designer & photographer/ videographer on the team. The clique has been “Klick-ing” since day 1. I am learning immensely from the resources that we bring forth to one another and look forward to growing our community.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
It’s funny because whenever a friend comes to town, I usually suggest we go elsewhere. I’m from South Jersey, Camden County. For the sake of the scenario, I’ll set the forecast to Hot Aunty Summer.

I’m the friend who agrees to the itinerary & sends the funds when the group chat requests it.

My girls and I love to eat so whatever is on the tongue at the moment is what it’s hittin’ for. Some of my favorite Philly nightlife spots include, Time Bar, Graffiti Bar, Insomnia Cookies, Milk Bar, South Bowl, El Vez, Blind Barber, Sky High etc.

In Jersey, I usually reserve that for quick happy hours at my favorite spots; Tortilla Press: Cantina, Essie’s, CAVA, Bahama Breeze etc.

As far as nightlife, I always need that nap first! I’m down for most things, except smoking hookah or cigars, clubbing till the lights come on, & anything that I can’t drive to myself.

I’m a homebody, who likes to go on lone ventures a lot, so my friends are usually inviting me out. At some point, if i had it my way we’d end up on the beach in time for some lounging & watching the sunset.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to first thank any & everyone who has been a friend, follower, viewer and supporter, especially if you’ve sent a prayer or two up!

My parents deserve a standing O for judging me to my face for switching careers, & still standing beside their daughter. Play Vashawn Mitchell, “Nobody greater”. All jokes aside, my parents have rode for me since day one, which is why I act the way I do!

The CEO Founder of Klick Studio’s, Nefer Craig is someone who I have grown to know and am in partnership with. She has been a friend, has a “Dope” sense of being, and someone who has SEEN & recognized me. I am forever grateful for the opportunity for his to take over for East coast Black women Shooters.
