We had the good fortune of connecting with Jasmine Coach and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jasmine, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I am from North Augusta, SC. I was brought up in a blue collar household, where my mom was and still is a kindergarten teacher and my dad works for Bridgestone. At a young age my parents instilled in me and my three other siblings that we can have anything in life if we just worked hard for it and remained dedicated to it. Still to this day, the values that they have put into me hold the same weight that they did back in my youth. Some may call me a workaholic and I am okay with that because in the end I know the hard work will pay off.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have also been a big fan of art ever since I was a child. Growing up my main goal was to become a college basketball player and I achieved that goal thanks to the University of South Carolina Aiken. Once basketball was complete I needed another positive outlet, and art became that for me. I dabbled into all sorts of mediums such as water color, charcoal, and acrylic paint, but once I started oil painting I fell in love with it. My subject matter is landscapes and wildlife. I find myself fascinated by the gifts that God already has in front of us. The gift of nature. Along the way I have learned to appreciate all aspects of the world around us, from the ocean to the peaks of the mountains. From dogs to the American Bison. Everything in this life has a purpose and should be respected. I want the world to know that even if your lost your purpose in life God always has a way of bringing it back around to you. Live in the moment and enjoy the nature around you.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The first stop on our trip would have to be SRP Park to catch a Green Jackets baseball game in North Augusta, SC. After that I would take them to get the best ice cream in the country, Pink Dipper. The next day we would have to travel to Villa Rica, GA to take a visit to Landen Prather Fine Art Gallery to see some amazing artwork along with me and other artist from all over the world.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Without the love and support from the entire Coach family I would not have made it this far in my career. From my parents to my siblings, to my close friends and family, the love continues to be the driving force in my life. My family and my friends have encouraged me to be the best artist that I can be every single day. I also want to give a huge personal shoutout to my good friend Landen Prather, who’s gallery gave me a chance to become a professional artist. He truly inspires me everyday not only as a fellow artist, but as a mentor as well.
