We had the good fortune of connecting with Jasmine Clay and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jasmine, Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?
Integrity. It’s how I was raised, and it’s behind everything I do. I was raised to do everything with integrity and honesty because not only does it make you a reliable and trustworthy person but it makes you feel good inside for yourself as well.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have finally landed a job within my career field after putting myself through 4 years of undergrad and 1 and a half years of graduate school. Of course it wasn’t easy, especially being a first generation college graduate, but perseverance means everything to me. I was strategic about the opportunities I took and the internships that I applied for and completed. I feel as though by doing so, I was able to set myself up for success. The main lesson I learned was patience-your journey is your journey and no one else’s and the timing will come when the timing is right. Don’t compare your journey to anyone’s.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take them downtown Atlanta to places like Ponce City Market and the High Museum of Art, we would probably visit one of the malls, and I would also suggest that we visit Cafe Intermezzo in Alpharetta because it is one of my favorite restaurants! The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My family deserves all the credit for being my constant support. Everything I’ve done and been able to accomplish is because of them.
