We had the good fortune of connecting with Jasmine Bradfield and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jasmine, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I’m a southern girl with love for the city. I was raised in Stone Mountain/Lithonia, and paid in Atlanta. My roots stem from Georgia, Mississippi, Philadelphia, and Carolina.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a traditional midwife, yoga instructor, and women’s wellness specialist. The most exciting part about what I do is the ability to offer services in the place I grew up. I know these people in some form of fashion. I get to relate to my client’s in a way that others can not because we are from the same neighborhoods. The easiest part of my journey was knowing I wanted to teach what I knew to the people. I wasn’t sure how that would manifest for me. I was both a bartender and medical student seeking balance when I took my first steps on the holistic route.

I became a certified yoga instructor in 2013. Then a certified doula in 2015. I started taking midwifery courses in 2017. I am currently in apprenticeship to become a nationally certified midwife. Long story short no, this was not an easy route. As I age I realized that I did not want what was easy, I wanted what I was aligned with.

Now that I am aligned, there is ease. I am the owner of Atlanta Birthwork and the Women’s Wellness Specialist at The Yoga Hive. At Atlanta Birthwork our mission is to share empathetic hands and hearts to budding families while educating all ages of womxn and youth about birth culture traditions and holistic wellness practices. Our Women’s Wellness Program is located at The Yoga Hive in Atlanta, where we offer classes, workshops, coaching sessions, and free birth consultations both virtually and in-person.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Ok. Yes! Let’s start the morning with a hike up Stone Mountain before my noon Basics + Stretch yoga class at The Yoga Hive. We can head to grab smoothies and a salad after. After we shower, we have a photo walk scheduled with Take Pics Here to explore Piedmont Park in midtown in the afternoon. Dinner and entertainment? I like to cook so I stopped by the farmer’s market on the way home. My sisters are in town, so after we eat we going to that dance club everybody knows the name of, but we skipping the lines because I know security.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Yes Absolutely.

“First and foremost I’d like to thank my connect.” My husband, and friend. Before we were in a romantic relationship he taught me the blueprint to entrepreneurship in a way that has worked in my favor ever since. He has many businesses himself, but my two favorite are Longshots Media, and Take Pics Here.

Then my teachers. There are too many to list but they know exactly who they are. There have been obstacles and gatekeepers along my journey, but not them. They were inspired by my desire to learn and guided my studies to enhance my growth.

Lastly, my community! The studios owners, the high school alumni, the Atlanta natives, and those I’ve met along the way who understand the vision and continue to support my mission.
