We had the good fortune of connecting with Jasmine Baugus and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jasmine, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
To me, in order to be successful or go to the next level in your life, you must take risks. Meaning you must have faith that everything will work out in your favor and if it doesn’t it’s okay. It now becomes apart of your story. The role that risk has played in my life is investing money time and effort into my brand. Getting uncomfortable not knowing what the other side may look like, but still taking that jump. The biggest risk I have taken is moving from my hometown Killeen to a new city Dallas. If I didn’t take that risk I wouldn’t be where I am today. My brand wouldn’t have grown this big if I didn’t take that risk.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am from Killeen, Texas but recently moved to Dallas February 6, 2020. Being a basketball player has been my dream since I was 5 years old. Fulfilling part of that dream, I played basketball from elementary through high school. You can only imagine how ecstatic I was, when I received a full ride scholarship to Texas State University. During my senior year of college, I realized that I was no longer in love with basketball. My passion and drive for it weren’t there. After graduating from college with my bachelor’s degree, it was now time for me to pursue my purpose in life. At that time, I was not sure what that was. I moved back home, and my good friend, my brother, Felix Marbury imparted on me an opportunity to get in the best shape of my life, while helping others do the same. From that day forward, I committed myself to physical health. I fell in love with the fact that I can help people by training their bodies. Not only can I produce feelings of confidence and value in myself, but I can do the same for other individuals as well. In that, I found purpose. It became clear that health and fitness would be my niche. Six years ago, I decided to make helping people become the best version of themselves physically and mentally my career. It has not always been a smooth road. There were times where I felt that I could not make this a career. My clientele flow was low, and people were not coming to me to get healthy anymore. I lost my mojo. If I can be transparent, I stopped walking in my purpose. I still trained from time to time, but ultimately settled for a job and got comfortable. In my heart, I knew that I could not keep living that way. I had to fight to get where I am today. I could not have survived or conquered the battles if I did not work on myself spiritually, mentally, and physically. BodyByBaugus is a brand that represents ambition, power, and growth. We offer an intimate service experience that challenges you physically and mentally. Our top priority is to help you become the best version of yourself. As a company, I would say that the transformations of the people I have trained, is the thing that I am most proud of. What sets me apart from other trainers is that unlike most, I don’t aim for physical health first, my goal is to make your mental health a priority. I feel that people sometimes overlook how those two intricate pieces tie into one other. It is almost impractical to believe that you can accomplish any goal, if your mental health is not there as well. If you train with me or have previously trained with me, you know that personal development is a critical part of your workout program. Your mind tells your body what to do. I add personal development into the programs to help people get motivated and inspired to workout.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I wouldn’t be where I am if it wasn’t for my support system. My family and my team. My parents have always been there for me from the jump. They invest in my brand as well as keep me encouraged. I love them both so much and appreciate everything they have done for me. I have the best parents in the world. I have 5 best friends they are my heart, they are what keep me going. They motivate and hype me up when I am feeling down. They believe in all my ideas even the ones that may sound crazy. They have been my best friends for 17 years., and have been there since day one. I don’t know where I would be without them. FIVE (my heartbeat)
