We had the good fortune of connecting with Jasmine Austin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jasmine, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I started my business in October 2019, and decided I wanted to step into my passion/purpose. I’ve always enjoyed anything fashion. When people think of fashion, clothing comes to mind, but why not the icing on the cake, ACCESSORIES.

What should our readers know about your business?
aJassyCustoms, was started in 2019, since my name is Jasmine and I’m all things “JASSY” so the name aJassyCustoms came naturally, I first started making designer inspired bangles, which I really enjoyed because I was able to design them the way I wanted to and customized them to my customers’ preference. As I designed bangles for months, I finally decided I wanted to add more to my business/brand and started adding designer inspired brooches, then came earrings, bracelets, necklaces, stockings, etc.. ALL accessories. Just recently I have decided to add clothing, but not sure if this will be permanent.

What sets me apart from others is that I love fashion, and I genuinely want everyone to be “Jassy”, so I’m not going to sale anything I wouldn’t wear just because.
I’m most proud of the fact that my business is still thriving , it might not be one of the biggest/well-known names, but the reoccurring customers I have, reassures me I’m doing something right and that alone brings joy to my heart and a smile upon my face.
I got to where I am today with my business from my customers, because without their support and purchases, of course, there would be no reason, I thank them bunches.

Having a business, being an entrepreneur definitely is not easy, but what I have learned along the way is, it has to be in you, passion. You cannot worry about who supports you and who don’t. You cannot worry about whose selling/doing the same thing as you. You have to be the BEST version of YOU! #ajassygirl

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m a shopaholic, shoes of course so I’m definitely going to a boutique/mall . Of course a restaurant, who doesn’t love food and want to try new things. I went to Nouveau restaurant this weekend, thumbs up. Museums of any kind are good for new knowledge and the experience. I actually had the chance to go to the Trap Museum and The Culture Experience this weekend which was really cool, I loved it.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I like to Shoutout my kids, Mikel & Mikaria, they are my motivation and who I do it for. Also, anyone who has supported my business in ANYWAY, Thank you whole heartedly!
