We had the good fortune of connecting with Jashanna McQueen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jashanna, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
Work-life balance has been a struggle for me. This is the beginning of my career, I used to feel intrigued to be engaged in the business all day. However, I found myself burning out, quicker than usual. I’ve found the importance of work-life balance by exhausting my energy. Balance is required for anything with longevity. Being consumed with work creates a mental blockage. My balance has changed by finding new ways to be creative, completing mindless activities, and scheduling rest days. Balance keeps the train moving at a steady pace. Balance prevents burnout and exhaustion. Balance is a key to great business planning.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My company, Leo Blu Productions has taught me all of the workings of being a business owner. I started the business without any knowledge of how to sustain, build, or expand. Through trials, failed business partnerships, and producing content I’ve learned what my business needs. It’s beyond financial stability. My business needed an executed plan that’ll show the world what it’s capable of. We are rebranding and planning for expansion. I am proud of the place we are in. I have worked hard to establish it’s existence and we are making our way on the map. Soon, we will be producing content for major networks. We are launching our first set of e-books, teaching screenwriting techniques. Also, I have created a new business, 2840, an extension of Leo Blu. 2840 is a production apparel company that’s designed for film and production artists. The business will sell comfortable and durable apparel items used for film/production sets and recreational purposes. We will also sell essential items to be used on film/production sets. I am creating a connected umbrella of businesses that will provide opportunities and build networks for independent, beginning, aspiring, or established artists.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We will go to the Blue Ridge Mountains. We will visit at least two farmer’s markets to collect all of the items from the grocery list. Then go sight-seeing during our two-hour drive to the mountains. We will meditate at a nearby lake every morning before sunrise. We will visit a mountain or waterfall each day. Then, randomly pick a new restaurant to visit every evening. Everything will be about tranquility and spontaneity.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My sister, Krystle Paul-Noel is a rare jewel. She deserves all of the credit for my story. My sister is my mentor. She has influenced my journey through love, support, and encouragement. She believes in me as a person and an artist. She has inspired me to reach for the highest stars in the sky. I am grateful for the angelic presence and insightful wisdom. I am who I am because of my sister.
