Meet Jasen Thomas | Co-Founder of The Havit Brand

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jasen Thomas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jasen, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I think the thought process behind starting The Havit Brand was simple. When you feel that you have a vision that you want the world to experience and you’re wholehearted vested in its ideology or concept it becomes easy to produce.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
The Havit Brand is a Custom Clothing, Printable Apparel, Event and Crafting Service. Our motto is “If you can think it, we can create it.” Cofounded by Jasen Thomas and Laquanda “The Goddess Hands” Body

So, let me a explain a little more in-depth of the ideology of the word HAVIT. Havit is a portmanteau which is a combination of two words becoming one, Have and It, and it signifies wanting to maintain our peace without any interruptions. Have you ever dealt with unnecessary stresses, depression, or frustrations in life, and here’s the key factor, that you didn’t actually have to take on? See, we understand that there are vices in life that we have no choice to deal with, figure out and resolve but there is the darker side, THE UNNECESSARY. So when life presents you with the unnecessary what do you tell it, “HAVIT, we love our peace of Mind.”

We’re super excited about the building of our brand and the concept behind it. Think about it, you rocking a hot brand that not only has a life altering message but it teaches you how to change your perspective on life. The ideology of the business was pretty easy to develop, I mean, it’s not a culture, ethnic or gender bias but a humanity fairness. I think the greatest part about the business is having a partner who is very very creative and sees the vision just as much as you.

The hardest part and I think this goes for any new business is just making sure that you have all of the legality taken care of so that you’re not having to double back trying to dot i’s and cross t’s for a second time. The greatest lesson we’ve learned in this process is that it’s a process. When you believe in something strongly you expect everyone else to and it doesn’t always work that way. That’s where patience is definitely a virtue. You have to just continue to promote and continue to be your biggest fan.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
OK I WOULD FIRST LET THEM SEE OF COURSE THE WONDERFUL MAGNIFICENT MILE AND EXPLORE OUR BEAUTIFUL CITY SKY LINE, THEN WE WOULD HIT MAJOR SPOTS INCLUDING A COUPLE OF ROOF TOPS LIKE THE VU, THE CERISE, LONDON HOUSE, OFF SHORE, IO GODFREY, AND THE AIRE ROOFTOP. WE WOULD ALSO GO TO THE SHEDD AQUARIUM, 360 CHICAGO, NAVY PIER, SKY DECK CHICAGO. AS FOR FOOD THEY WOULD HAVE CHOICES LIKE THE JOE’S SEAFOOD, AVEC, VOLARE, THE CAPITAL GRILLE BUT WE MUST HIT MAXWELL STREET FOR THE BEEF POLISH SAUSAGE, PORTILLOS FOR THE ITALIAN BEEF, GINOS FOR PIZZA, AND DOWNTOWN BY THE FIELD MUSEUM TO GET THEM A FAMOUS CHICAGO HOT DOG WITH ALL THE WORKS WITH A BAG OF CHIPS AND COLD DRINK.

I KNOW THEY WOULD LIKE TO HIT THE MALL SO WE WOULD GO TO WOODFIELD MALL AND OUT TO THE ROSEMONT OUTLET AND GRAB A COUPLE THINGS SO WE COULD HIT A COUPLE BARS AND GET OUR DANCE ON.

NOW AS FAR AS CLUBS, DEFINITELY KINGSTON MINES FOR SOME RAGGAE VIBES, AND THEN TAVERN ON LAGRANGE FOR SOME LIVE MUSIC, LINK UP WITH A COUPLE OF FAMILY MEMBERS AND CATCH UP ON OLD TIMES.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First we would like to give a Shoutout to God and our family for the support they’ve shown us since the beginning of the creation of The Havit Brand, We would like to also give a Shoutout to the many experiences in life because they helped fortify how we not just see life but actually understand it.
