Meet Jarry Lee: Model, Actor, Musician, and Social Media Influencer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jarry Lee and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jarry, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I’ve always loved the arts from an early age, and my family invested in private tutors for me for classical piano, violin, and painting/drawing. Writing, specifically poetry, was my childhood passion, and I dreamt of becoming a screenwriter or poet. I feel most fulfilled when I have the freedom to work on projects I’m passionate about and express myself creatively, which is a big part of why I changed careers and now work for myself in the entertainment industry. Acting, modeling, and recording music bring such inner peace and joy for me.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m a full-time model, actor, musician, and social media entrepreneur with almost a million followers across my channels. I used to work as a journalist and was a deputy editor at BuzzFeed for 3.5 years. In 2017, I started acting on the side as a hobby, and decided to leave my career in media to focus on it in early 2018. I didn’t have any formal prior training/experience (in acting or in modeling) so it was a risk to give up my salary and benefits, but fortunately it all worked out! Despite the learning curve, I was a quick learner through determination and adaptability. And I’m grateful I took that leap, which is why I believe risk-taking is so critical. I could never have predicted what my life looks like today a few years ago, and would have lost out on a lot of potential had I not made the decision to switch careers.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
One of my favorite spots is actually the Spyscape museum because I was obsessed with spies as a kid — it’s such a fun, immersive, and educational experience.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’m grateful to my partner, who has supported and encouraged me throughout my career. His firm belief in me and my abilities has been deeply motivating and uplifting. I’m also grateful that my parents instilled their values of hard work and perseverance in me from an early age, which I believe has been the foundation of my success.
