We had the good fortune of connecting with Jared Reeder and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jared, as a parent, what have you done for your children that you feel has had the most significant impact?
As a business owner and parent, the most important thing I’ve done is made sure my children were aware of why, how and what I do on a daily basis. I have a daughter and son who are 9 and 6 and they are both well aware of what it takes to be a business owner. I will bring them in on certain projects to assist me in choosing design colors and fonts. This allows them to be apart of the process, but also understand that certain decisions are based on principles and rules. On vacations, I will often joke about the hours and decisions made during those projects, lead to these vacations. My daughter recently put together a creative pitch deck to sell my wife and I on a birthday trip for her and her brother. We were blown away by the well-developed thought process and overall design. Needless to say, the pitch deck worked and we booked the trip. So again, I was raised with the idea that you must see it, to achieve it. And as a parent I have made sure my children have not only seen it, but experienced it.
What should our readers know about your business?
?toPeriod is a brand and strategy agency. Our design methodology is based on Lindstrom’s sensory branding – your five senses play key roles into creating brand loyalty. When we create- touch, sound, taste, smell and visuals are key to each solution. What sets us apart is our ability to combine science with creative. Our brand strategies are not simply based on aesthetics and how things look. But house a sense of connection and a strong why.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I enjoy the West Midtown area as well the culture of downtown Atlanta and Vine City. For lunch, we would definitely eat at Local Green Atlanta. It’s hands down the best fast casual healthy restaurant in Atlanta. As a vegetarian, there are many options that taste amazing. For dinner we would visit my favorite upscale restaurant Marcel. The food and atmosphere is second to none. We would shop and hang out with Kwassi Cateria at Moda404. Again, the best high-end fashion and energy in the city. Lastly, we would attend the Atlanta AfroSocaLove event. This is without a doubt the best event I have attended in Atlanta in my 24 years in the city,
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My mother Yvonne Reeder and sister Cynithea have definitely been my biggest influences. My mother has been the light and has encouraged me from a young age to push my way of thinking. My sister has been the creative that I followed. She went to art school, I followed 10 years later. She worked for an advertising agency. I followed. She started her own firm, I took it over pushed the envelope.
