We had the good fortune of connecting with Jared Caleb and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jared, why did you pursue a creative career?
Ever since I could remember, I wanted to be a doctor- a pediatric cardiologist to be exact. I held onto that dream all through grade school and into high school. Most people who wanted to be doctors were studious and stayed out of trouble. Although an A student, I talked A LOT. I mean A LOT- I had to be separated from friends and frienemies because I just didn’t know how to be quiet. Many people used to tell me I would grow up to be a lawyer or work in the entertainment industry. I just knew I couldn’t be swayed from my dream of being a doctor. Fast forward to college and I’m in my second semester of my pre-med classes and I realized I didn’t really know anyone in the classroom. I had stopped talking so much. I didn’t feel like myself. That night, I called my parents with tears in my eyes and fear in my voice (I hate disappointing my parents). I asked them if they would be mad if I didn’t want to be a doctor anymore and to my complete relief they said… “You do what you want to do in life. This is your life- live it.” So I switched my major to communications (and yes I knew EVERYONE in the class and out of the class) and I went through a whole resume of retail salesmen, marketing company manager, make up artist and now my most rewarding and happiest career, Talent Agent and owner of my own booking agency.

What should our readers know about your business?
I own a small booking agency in which I’m able to give attention to each of my clients, from celebrities to independent artists, allowing them to be a priority! What I’m most proud of is the caliber of roster I have. Whenever I book a show, my clients are ALWAYS asked to return and that makes me feel so incredibly blessed! I know I can trust my eye and ear for talent- and have that recognized! I’ve been able to work with Morgan Myles, Dru Hill, Lauren Davidson, Tara, Brown, Henry Cho and the list goes on!

It certainly wasn’t easily getting to this point. While I had great mentors in this industry, I also had some less than ethical people around me as well.. actually right beside me- my own business partner. When the word got out that the person who I looked at as not only a business partner, but a friend was taking from clients, venues and talent buyers, that fell negatively on me. I had to call each client, manager and buyer we worked with and explain to them what happened and even had my now former business partner call them and explain to them it wasn’t me. This went on for about 8 months. Luckily, I was able to recover my name and eventually opened my own successful agency!

I’ve learned many lessons along the way and STILL learning them. The most important being, NO means Next Opportunity, look out for red flags/ bad business practices, never let them see you sweat and ALWAYS stay true to who you are.

I want the world to know that the Jared Caleb Agency, LLC is here to provide world class entertainment to EVERYONE. We have a roster that can be tailored to any venue, large or small, without sacrificing quality. I am also very excited to be expanding my business by adding another agent, a social media manager and artist consultant.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I absolutely love Atlanta! My first stop would be to grab some food at TWO Urban Licks- the ambiance and the food is to die for! Next we’d grab drinks at Johnny’s Hideaway and disco the night away! I’d also take them to Ponce City Market, so many food choices and great shopping AND rooftop views?! Shopping would definitely take place at Lenox and Phipps- two of my favorite places to shop- and grab a bite to eat at the Neiman Marcus cafe. We would have to stroll through Piedmont Park and then checkout the newest exhibit at the botanical gardens.

Woodstock, GA located just outside of the city is another of my favorite spots to just relax and enjoy the quaint downtown area. Heading back to Atlanta, I’d have to show them Truist Park and catch a game if we can!

One of my favorite things to do is to walk the belt line and also go around the city finding the tiny doors! So many things I love in the city!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have a few people. First of all, God. Without him, nothing is possible. Second, my Mom and Dad. They have been so supportive throughout my life and career- I appreciate them showing me what work ethic is and always encouraging me to go after whatever it is I want out of life. To my sister, Brianna Lowery-Thank you for all your love and support. And I also want to shoutout Nancy and Debra Maingi. I have built my business on the model these 2 sisters taught me years ago, and I’ll be forever grateful.
