We had the good fortune of connecting with Janece Streeter and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Janece, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I was honestly tired of living the status quo. We are taught to go to school, graduate, get a “good job”, and then work for the next 40-50 years of our lives just to make someone else rich. I figured, why not put myself in the position to do something that I enjoy and reap the benefits for myself and my family.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I’m a REALTOR®, most people think the job is all about selling and buying houses, and while that is a large part of what I do, the job consists of so much more! My job is about building relationships, educating and being a resource to my community to help people build wealth one house at a time.

The thing I’m most proud of in my business is honestly my customer service. I’ve prided myself on customer service way before getting into the real estate world. Providing people with an amazing experience within any industry should be the number one goal and I believe that this is especially true for real estate. People are trusting you to carry out one of, if not the most expensive transaction they will ever make in their lives and the easier and more enjoyable you can make that experience, the better.

I got into real estate after participating in a voluntary layoff program with my previous employer. Work dried up and they were looking for people to voluntarily leave the company. I had been praying for God to show me where I needed to be career-wise where I could make the largest impact, so when my job asked for volunteers, I was obedient and left. 23 days later I passed the Georgia Real estate exam and the rest was history!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well me and my bestie both love to eat haha and we are both laid back. A week long trip….. Food wise we would definitely visit Homegrown, Roux on Canton, Henry’s in Acworth, Little Alley Steak in Buckhead, Vortex for a good burger, Char for some Korean BBQ and Marietta Fish Market!

For a little fun would would visit TopGolf, The Painted Pin, Atlanta Slingshot Adventure Rentals, rent a boat out on Lake Lanier, defiantly hit the Atlanta belt-line to ride a scooter and visit POUR for a drink. Andretti’s to tap into our inner kid and Atlanta City Winery for a concert or comedy show!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my family! They are always cheering me on, but most notable is my husband! My husband has given me the grace, leeway and support throughout my journey of discovering who I am and my path in life. From undergrad, to grad school, to my entrepreneurial endeavors, he has been my side every step of the way. Thank you babe!
